you're asking why or How?? cause the answer given by Mr. copy Gaurav is for how not for why... toh answer hoga kee uska ek bade bande ke saath pool mein paani wale pool mein do-do haath ho gayi thi.. ab janaab ko swimming toh ati nahi thi toh hona kya tha doobne lage.. wo mc bhi isko uchaal kar kat liya.. toh fir somehow life toh bach gayi lekin swimming se bhai ko dar lagne laga, that's why Douglas wanted to overcome his fear of water. :D

Gaurav Seth 4 years, 9 months ago

After his misadventure in the pool at the Y.M.C.A., Douglas was amidst the fear of water. He realised that his fishing trips, canoeing, swimming and boating were over. He tried his best to overcome it but the haunting fear of the water followed him everywhere. Finally he decided to engage an instructor to learn to swim and to overcome his fear. He went to the pool and practised for five days a week, an hour each day. The instructor put a belt around him and a rope was attached to the belt. The rope went through a pulley that ran an overhead cable. Douglas held one end of the rope and went back and forth across the pool. On each trip, some of the terror would seize him up. After three months, the tension began to decrease.

Piece by piece he shed the panic. He taught him to put his face under water and exhale. He also learnt how to raise his nose and inhale. This exercise was repeated hundreds of times.

Now he was able to shed part of the fear that seized him under water. He went to Lake Wentworth Triggs Island and Slamp Act Island. He swam two miles across the lake. Now he was determined and he swam on. He shouted with joy and he had conquered his fear of water.

Answer:
When Douglas realised he was sinking he was frightened out of his wits and it was then that he decided to make a big jump and come up to the surface. He thought of lying flat on water for some time and then to paddle to the edge of the pool.

The poet describes Aunt Jennifer’s tigers as ‘bright topaz denizens’ of the forest. They are fearless and ferocious in sharp contrast to their creator, Aunt Jennifer’s nervousness and timidity. Gallant and confident, they are sure of their purpose and move ahead undeterred by any kind of hindrance or obstruction.

The main causes of suffering as suggested by John keats in the poem a thing of beauty is a man's own deeds and actions. Also the disappointing thoughts , wrong paths taken by man to achieve his goals , lack of noble qualities among people are the causes of suffering and pain.

Varun Sinha 4 years, 9 months ago

The poet lists a number of things that cause suffering and pain, such as despondency, depression, unhealthy and wrong ways taken up by humans to acquire their desired goals, etc. Thepoet also feels that there is a real dearth of noble souls in this world.

grandeur of the dooms refers to those glories and magnificence that the dead are entilted to, on the Doom Day after their death.

Varun Sinha 4 years, 9 months ago

The 'grandeur of the dooms' is a reference to our mighty and dead ancestors who have formed beautifulobjects for us. On the other hand, the 'endless fountain' is the endless joy provided to us by the abundances of nature in the form of nectar pouring on us from heaven

Gaurav Seth 4 years, 9 months ago

“The grandeur of the dooms” means the magnificence that we imagine for our mighty dead forefathers on the Doom’s Day.
The grandeur of doom refers to the monuments we erect to honour the 'mighty dead'. These monuments which honour men who are no more, are symbols of mighty sacrifice and greatness, and in such dedications mortal man passes into immortality--because their beauty captured in these monuments make them immortal and their deeds eternal.

Dear Editor

I am Radha G, member of NGO AWAAZ. I am writing to you in order to highlight the deteriorating condition of river Yamuna.
The city of Delhi is getting contaminated water from river Yamuna. The residents are to be blamed for this. They pollute the river with garbage, sewage and filth. The river water is full of bacteria, plastic, chemicals and other waste materials. It is unfit for consumption.
The people have been demanding a Water Treatment plant. The authorities have not yet responded to the repeated requests.
I request you to highlight the problem in your newspaper and arouse public interest. We all need to get together in order to get the plant set up in the area.

Thank You
Yours sincerely

Ragging is an old and cruel practice, prevalent since the British era. Although, initially, it was limited to English colleges and universities eventually, it spread to Indian educational system as well. The original aim of this practice was to teach the juniors to respect the social hierarchy existing in schools, colleges and universities. Soon, it became a way to enforce unnecessary traditions and discipline them. It’s always someone in power, such as a prefect or an authoritative senior who likes to dominate. They do not think twice before misusing their authority. As a result, juniors and freshers are made to perform humiliating acts, which can be suggestive sexual, sarcastic and even physically and mentally traumatising for the victim. In extreme cases of severe ragging, the victim either commits suicide or gets killed. There are laws to punish the perpetrators. However, sometimes that’s not enough. Young students must communicate to their parents, college councellors or anti-ragging squad any life threatening issues they are facing at school/colleges. Schools and colleges must appoint trained counsellors, who can empathise with students and understand their problems. Above all, students and parents must be made aware of the ills of ragging and how it affects the victims and their families, only then ragging can be prevented.

The term 'O-Level' in the play refers to the basic test in German taken by students in England, Wales and Northern Ireland. This examination is at the centre of Evans’ successful escape. It is in the guise of taking the O-level exam in German that Evans plans and executes his escape successfully. The holding of the O-level examination by the prison authorities gives Evans the chance to make a successful exit from the prison and it is also the question paper of this examination that helped the Governor track Evans at the Golden Lion from where Evans makes his final successful escape by fooling the Governor.
There is also a play on the term ‘O-Level’, which is short for ordinary level. It is a hint at the preparations that Evans had taken to make his escape successful. Though those were ordinary on the face of it, they helped Evans make a successful escape after four failed attempts earlier.

1)  The first sentence refers to the fact that Sadao's father considered the islands which lay yonder or beyond were the stepping stones to Japan's future. This means that Japan had to explore its options outside of the country and produce talent well-acquainted with the world to put Japan on the global map.

2) No one has the reigns to a person's future apart from the person himself. Our future depended on how we chose to make our lives and the decisions we took. Just as Sadao knew that his education was the most important thing in his life to be what his father wished him to be. He went to America at the age of twenty-two to learn all that could be learned of surgery and medicine. He came back at thirty before his father died not only as a famous surgeon but also as a scientist. He had participated in the process of shaping his future rather than take the tide take its course.
