British think gandhi ji would ask for full payment but he ask only 25 percent and his decision was firm

Gaurav Seth 5 years, 4 months ago

50% refund as repayment

Detailed explanation

The moneylenders had thought that Gandhi would ask for the full payment of the money which they had taken from the peasants forcefully and fraudulently. But he asked for only fifty percent and his decision was firm. A missionary, Reverend J. Z. Hodge who had a close watch on the matter reported this. The planters offered to pay only 25 percent as they thought it would be rejected by Gandhi. He immediately accepted it. Gandhi said that the amount of money was not important but by giving money, the planters had bowed down to the peasants and had given away their honour too. The planters who earlier behaved as if they were above the law, now had to abide by it. This made the peasants realize their rights and give them courage to fight for them.

The Governor admired clever Evans and his beautifully laid plan. He called it careless of him to leave the question paper behind. He observed that all criminals made mistakes somewhere. That is why they were nabbed. He hoped that very shortly Mr clever-clever Evans would be back inside the prison.

The text on the last page of German question paper contained the plan of escape. It had important clues of the route. From Elsfield Way the person had to drive to the Headington roundabout and from there to Newbury.
After sometime, Superintendent Carter informed the Governor on phone that McLeery had spotted Evans driving off along Elsfield Way. They had got the number of the car all right and given chase at opce. But they had lost him at the Headington roundabout. Since McLeery felt quite weak when they got to the Examination offices, they rang Radcliffe for the ambulances from there. They left McLeery on Elsfield Way. Thus, the injured McLeery, who had posed to help the authorities, disappeared and Evans remained untraced.
The other clues: Index number 313; Centre number 271 and ‘Golden Lion’ also had a deep meaning. The Governor took help of an Ordnance Survey Map for Oxfordshire. The six figure reference 313/271 brought him in the middle of Chipping Norton. He found Evans in the Golden Lion in Chipping Norton.

In both the characters one can find a lot of affinity between them. They are dejected, disappointed, secluded and lead a tensed life.Derry's face is eaten up by acid so he suffers from a sense of inferiority complex and negativeness towards life. People are scared of him and he tries to alienate from the mainstream of life. He is defiant and withdrawn. He does not trust people and thinks that no one will ever love him except his mother. He can't face the stare of the people.

On the other hand Mr. Lamb does not allow his disability to come in his way. He develops positive attitude and accepts it as it comes. Though children tease him by calling ‘Lamey-Lamb’, yet he does not mind. He keeps his door always open. People visit him and he gives toffees to the children. He has friends every where. He has one tin leg but he enjoys life. He sits in the sun to read books. He grows weeds, plants, flowers and fruits. He loves everybody and everything. Derry is deeply influenced by the positive attitude of Mr. Lamb.

Derry says that he has been told that story before. It teaches us that outward appearance does not matter. It is what one is inside that is important. Handsome is that handsome does. Beauty loved the monstrous beast for himself. When she kissed him, he changed into a handsome prince. No one except Derry’s mother kisses him. She too kisses him on the other side of the face.e was always humiliated by people talking about his face which was half burnt, so he didn't expect anyone to love him or kiss him. He has developed a negative attitude and says he does not care ’ “if nobody ever kissed” him.

He becomes angry to learn that the old man was watching him. He explains his intentions. He has not come there to steal anything. When Mr Lamb again asks him not to be afraid, Derry remarks that people are afraid of him because his face is ugly and frightful.

According to Keats, man has a strong relationship with nature. Man is bound to the earth despite the gloom and misery that abounds his existence. Beauty relieves man of gloom and misery. The beauty that man sees around him, brings him joy and respite; it “is a joy forever” because of the bond he forges with nature. Like other Romantics, Keats is a believer in the healing powers of nature. He talks about the different elements of nature that surround man and overwhelm him with their magnificence.

Beautiful things help us to live a happy life in many ways. It offers a joy that lasts forever and cannot be dimmed with the passage of time. It helps us to rise above despondency, the flaws in our nature, gloomy days and, the unhealthy and over-darkened ways that we must traverse to arrive at the truth of existence. It also removes the pall from our dark spirits, making us aware of the beauty that surrounds us and resides within us.

A beautiful thing offers a joy that lasts forever and cannot be dimmed with the passage of time. A thing of beauty helps us to rise above despondency, the flaws in our natures, gloomy days and last but not the least, the unhealthy and over-darkened ways that we must traverse to arrive at the truth of existence. This beautiful thing removes the pall from our dark spirits and enlivens us, making us aware of the beauty that surrounds us and resides within us.

The poem conveys the message that a thing of beauty is a joy forever. It transcends time. It will never fade away. Beauty has the power to remove darkness and negativity and helps us survive when there is a 'dearth of noble nature' or when one is surrounded by evil. It has a positive impact on one's health. It helps one get sound sleep. Moreover, it highlights the fact that beauty is not only physical but also spiritual and seems to flow down from heaven as an 'immortal drink' made for man.

Douglas as an adult recounts a childhood experience of terror and his conquering it because the experience had a deep meaning for him. He had been through a stark terror and conquered it. The larger meaning that he had drawn from his experience is that there is terror only in the fear of death as Roosevelt had once said “all we have to fear is the fear itself”. Douglas had experienced both the sensation of dying and the terror that it can produce, the will to live had grown in intensity.

After his misadventure in the pool at the Y.M.C.A., Douglas was amidst the fear of water. He realised that his fishing trips, canoeing, swimming and boating were over. He tried his best to overcome it but the haunting fear of the water followed him everywhere. Finally he decided to engage an instructor to learn to swim and to overcome his fear. He went to the pool and practised for five days a week, an hour each day. The instructor put a belt around him and a rope was attached to the belt. The rope went through a pulley that ran an overhead cable. Douglas held one end of the rope and went back and forth across the pool. On each trip, some of the terror would seize him up. After three months, the tension began to decrease.
Piece by piece he shed the panic. He taught him to put his face under water and exhale. He also learnt how to raise his nose and inhale. This exercise was repeated hundreds of times.
Now he was able to shed part of the fear that seized him under water. He went to Lake Wentworth Triggs Island and Slamp Act Island. He swam two miles across the lake. Now he was determined and he swam on. He shouted with joy and he had conquered his fear of water.

The “misadventure” that William Douglas speaks about is the one where he was thrown into a swimming pool by an older boy. He found it difficult to breathe and almost drowned. He made three unsuccessful attempts to jump out of the water.

M. Hamel was a true French man. Teaching at Alsace for forty years, he had become a part of its people. He was an honest teacher. He did not blame his students alone for poor learning. He also held himself responsible for the same. He was very patriotic as he appealed to his countrymen to hold fast to their mother tongue to be free from the Prussians. According to him the French language was the most beautiful, the clearest and the most logical language in the world. He urged on his countrymen to guard it and never forget it. He was deeply attached to the school and all his students. However, he was very brave and strong. He was really regretful for not making sincere efforts to teach French to his countrymen. At the end, he became so emotional that he could not speak.

How did Jack try to convince his daughter that his ending of the story was the best?
Answer:
To convince Jo that his ending of the story was the best, Jack told her that a mother’s decision should be honoured. Roger Skunk became happy later as he loved his mother more than he loved the other animals. The mother wanted his son to be what he actually is and later the other animals too got adjusted to his smell and befriended him.

Roger Skunk's mother was angry because the wizard had made her son smell like roses which was not the way a little Skunk should smellShe poured her anger on the wizard and hit him with an umbrella on his head.

? Yang ? 5 years, 4 months ago

Roger's mother objects to Roger skunk's new smell of roses because she thinks that a skunk should always smell like a skunk and she also thinks that her son should accept him as he is and eventually the other creatures will also accept him as their friend and play with him.
