It was only through sheer determination and diligence that Douglas could not only counter his terror, but also become an expert swimmer. He swam across and back lakes to ensure that his fear of water did not return. He had now completely lost his fear. His desire, determination and diligence succeeded in banishing his fear of water.........

The nine feet deep pool appears like ninety feet to him. He feels a sense of acute uneasiness and as if his lungs are ready to burst. ... His legs were almost paralysed, his lungs were aching and his head was throbbing.....

    When Douglas was thrown into the pool..he planned to make a big leap to the surface of water and lie flat as a cork and paddle to the edge of the pool when he touched bottom of the pool .As he jumped from bottom he couldn't be able to get into the surface of water. He tries to keep his legs on the surface but it hangs like dead weight . Then he come downward and made other futile jump..The third time he went down he was suffocating more . Soon a backless swept over his brain which made him quite ,peaceful and drowsy.....

    Saheb now has a regular income. He is paid 800 rupees and all his meals. There , is no food problem. But his face has lost the carefree look. The steel canister in his hand now seems a burden. He is no longer his own master. He may have to work for longer hours. The helplessness of doing things at his own will makes him sad and when he was a rag picker he is always a tension free smile on his face...he can do whatever he wants to do when he was a rag picker. ..so these are some changes hope it help u

    Since Saheb now works in a tea-stall, he is now bound to his master and feels burdened. The steel canister he carries is very heavy as compared to his light plastic bag. The bag was his own and the canister belongs to his master whose orders he now has to follow. So he is no longer his own master.
