ADSORPTION |
ABSORPTION |
|
Surface phenomenon- concentration of the adsorbate increases only on the surface |
Bulk phenomenon- concentration is uniform throughout the solid |
|
Exothermic process- heat is released |
Endothermic process- heat is absorbed |
|
It is favoured by low temperature |
It is not affected by temperature |
|
Eg- Chalk stick dipped in ink adsorbs the colour of the ink but when you break the piece of chalk, its core still remains white |
Eg- When anhydrous CaCl2 absorbs water vapour, it becomes wet and pasty |

Faraday's Laws of Electromagnetic Induction consists of two laws. The first law describes the induction of emf in a conductor and the second law quantifies the emf produced in the conductor. m = E x I x t /96,485, where m is the mass of the substance produced in g; Z is the electrochemical equivalent, which is the mass of a substance produced at the electrode during electrolysis by one coulomb of charge; I is the current in Ampere(A); t is the time in seconds; and 96,485 is the Faraday's constant.

Living systems are made up of various complex biomolecules like carbohydrates, proteins, nucleic acids, lipids, etc. These biomolecules interact with each other and constitute the molecular logic of life processes. Like all the other biomolecules, carbohydrates are often built into long chains by stringing together smaller units. All of the biomolecules that make up our cells are made up of strings of monomers. For example, proteins are made up of strings of amino acids and nucleic acids are strings of nucleotides.
