Aniline doesn't undergo friedel craft rxn becoz the reagent AlCl3 bring electron deficient act as a Lewis base & attack on the lone pair of nitrogen present in aniline to form an insoluble complex which precipitate out & and rxn doesn't proceed

Ambidentate ligand are those ligand which have two different atom to donate electron pair e.g,NO2 But in didentate ligand are those ligand which two same atom to donate electron pair e.g, ethane 1-2 diamine

Rachit Goyal 7 years, 11 months ago

Ambident ligands are those ligands which will form coordinate bond from any one side from two choices e.g. :CN, in it C can donate it's e-'s pair or also N can. . . But bidentate ligands will definitely form two coordinate bonds e.g. en ( ethylene diamine )

E.g in Cu (29) , e.c. is 4s2 3d9 but as we know half- filled and fully- filled d-orbital is more stable that's why we will give one of the s electron to d and electronic configuration (e.c.) will be 4s1 3d10

Adsorption is a surface phenomena such that the substance (adsorbate) is adsorbed on another substance (adsorbent). The adsorbate remains on the surface only. Eg: chalk adsorbs water Absorption is a bulk phenomena. The entire body absorbs another substance. Eg: sponge absorbs water.

Transition elements show variable oxidation state because the energy gap between ns and (n-1)d orbital is small hence along with ns (n-1)d orbital also participate in bonding and form strong mettalic bonds hence show variable oxidation states

Akshita Gupta 7 years, 11 months ago

Transition elements show variable state oxidation in their compounds. Reason of variable oxidation state is that there is a very small energy difference in between (n-1)d and ns orbitals. As a result ,electrons of (n-1)d orbitals as well as ns-orbitals take part in bond formation.
