In ketones the carbonyl group is attached to two methyl group while in aldehyde it is attached to one alkyl group the + I inductive effect of the alkyl group decreases electron deficient the carbonyl group and increases stearic hindrance to the attacking nucleophile .therefore aldehydes are more reactive than ketones.
