Water is polar in nature while Ether is non-polar. Ethers are very slightly soluble in water at around 6.8g/100g. This is due to the presence of oxygen in ethers which interact with hydrogen in water to produce H-bonding to make it slightly soluble. ... However, dimethyl ether is not at all soluble in water.

We know ΔG° = ΔH° - TΔS° The characteristics of Elingham diagram are: i. Based on 2nd law of thermodynamics ii. It is a plot of Standard free energy of formation of various oxides and temperature So, the slope of the line gives -ΔS° i.e. entropy change and intercept gives the value of ΔH°. iii. A metal found in the Ellingham diagram act as a reducing agent for the metallic oxide. A substance whose formation enthalpy at given T, will reduce one whose formation of enthalpy is higher on diagram. iv. Intersection of two lines imply the equilibrium of oxidation and reduction reactions between two substances. Hope it helps!! Best wishes..
