Sufficient energy is released, when the bonds between the haloalkanes break, to break bonds between organic solvents. Hence the new bonds hence formed will be stronger.

J Ranjan Parida 8 years ago

Due to covalent bonding between organic compound and haloalkane

Ayushi Tyagi 8 years ago

The already existing forces between haloalkanes r very strong so they don't react with polar solvents bt react with non polar organic solvents like benzene

Anurag Yadav 8 years ago

Where as if there is no interaction at all between solute and solvent then both molecules are in a race to escape from solution and exert vapour pressure. Here there will be more vapour pressure then expected ,hence a positive deviation...... E.g acetone and choloroform

Ruby Bajwa 8 years ago

Mostly chloroform wale negative deviation show krte h.

Anurag Yadav 8 years ago

If both compounds are polar then there will be definitely an interaction between them which will result in the suppression of escaping tendency of both compounds and this will lead to less vapour pressure of solution then expected hence negative deviation...... E.g ethanol + water
