But no such resonance possible in case of saturated halo-alkanes. So there is a difference in hybridisation of the C-X bond i.e.,in haloalkanes,the hybridisation is sp3 but in haloarenes it is sp2 . So halogen atom is hold more tightly in halo-arenes.So c-x of haloarene is smaller than c-x of haloalkane.
