Wurtz rexn-------Rx + 2Na gives R-R + 2Nax Wurtz fitting-----chloro/bromo,etcBenzene + 2Na + Ch3X gives Toulene + 2Nax We study them differently because fitting is aspecially for Benzene Ring reactions.

Kmno4 koh then hydrolysis .this method is applicable for allyic hydrogen .if there is allylic hydrogen this can be done.correct me if wrong
