Cellulose is a straight chain polysaccharide composed only of β-D-glucose units which are joined by glycosidic linkage between C1 of one glucose unit and C4 of the next glucose unit. On other hand starch is a branched chain polymer of α-glucose and consists of two components Amylose(water soluble) and Amylopectin (water insoluble).

Rohit Jain 7 years ago

In starch there basic unit is α-glucose and in cellulose it is β-glucose.

Alkyl halide are insoluble in water because different water molecule are bound with each other with strong H-bonds and the resulting inreactions between hydrogen molecule and molecule of alkyl halide are weak therefore alkyl halide are immiscible with water however they are soluble in organic solvents such as benzene and ether

Nitrogen is a gas because it is simple diatomic molecule with triple bonds. Due to its small size and non polar nature interatomic are absent and is a gas. Phosphorus is a solid due to the presence of interatomic forces.

Suhani Rana? 7 years ago

This is because nitrogen is of small size and mass, hence have weak vanderwall interactions and hence exist as gas at room temperature where as size and mass of phosphorus is large as compared to nitrogen and hence has strong vanderwall interactions exist as solid at room temperature.

No because Zn+CuSo4 =ZnSo4+Cu

Rohit Jain 7 years ago

I think no because as according to SRP table zinc is placed above the copper hence zinc can easily be oxidized while at the same time copper can easily be reduced. There you will get zinc sulphate and copper powder.

Meaning of dimerise???

Ananya P 7 years ago

In NO2 nitrogen carries a odd electron, the molecules which have odd electron are less stable therefore they demerises to N2O4
