The mechanism of acid dehydration of ethanol to yield ethene involves the following three steps:
Step 1:
Protonation of ethanol to form ethyl oxonium ion:

Step 2:
Formation of carbocation (rate determining step):

Step 3:
Elimination of a proton to form ethene:

The acid consumed in step 1 is released in
Step 3. After the formation of ethene, it is removed to shift the equilibrium in a forward direction.

On the other hand due to presence of intramolecular hydrogen bonds in ortho nittrophenol , the interaction between molecules are less and interaction within molecules are greater. And this causes less stability and lesser boiling point

? Natasha Yadav? 6 years, 5 months ago

In case of p-nitrophenol , the interaction between the molecules are much stronger due to intermolecular hydrogen bonds. And this result in more stability and thus higher boiling point.

As solubility of gas is inversely proportional to temperature, oxygen is more soluble in cold water due to less temperature. If availablity of oxygen is there so aquatic species find it easier to live in cold water rather than hot water.

The thermal stability of hybrid decreases on moving down the grp. this is due to the decrease in the bond dissociation enthalpy(H-E) of hydride on moving down the grp. where E = O, S, Se, Te.

As surface area decreases and thus boiling point decreases .

? Natasha Yadav? 6 years, 5 months ago

As the branching increases the surface area of compound decreases, as surface area is directly proportional to vander waal interaction forces. The interaction forces between atom will decrease and they become weak on branching. Hence, molecules with weak forces of interaction are easy to boil...Thus , as branching increases boiling point decreases.

Chlorine being a stronger electron withdrawing group, pulls the negative charge towards itself by inductive effect so that the negative charge density on the oxygen atom, is reduced, hence stabilizating the conjugate base of chloroacetic acid. While the negative charge on oxygen atom in acetic acid is localised and conjugate base is less stable.

Řøhăň Řąjpůť ✌️✊ 6 years, 5 months ago

Carbon atom of - CH2Cl group acquires partial +ve charge which spreads to oxygen of chloro acetate ion when H+ is released. so the - ve charge of this oxygen is stabilised and anion becomes a weak Base. correspondingly the acid becomes a strong acid.

Organic chemistry, yell , the subject which seems difficult to almost every student including me, some exceptions are there, ofcourse. So, for this i would advice to first of all clear the basics of 11th, then mechanisms and the naming reactions. You should also practice iupac naming. Naming reactions should also be done, i couldn't advice anything on naming reactions as me too is facing problem. But ya, practice makes a man perfect.

? Natasha Yadav? 6 years, 5 months ago

Moving to inorganic chemistry, its just not all the mugging up. Yes, it require mugging up of reactions, but there is no other way to do them, just practice them regularly. The theory part , certainly has many reasoning questions, study in deep the basic concept behind this and it would be again easy.

? Natasha Yadav? 6 years, 5 months ago

For physical chemistry, you should learn all the formulas by practicing maximum numericals. I have often seen that many students tend to ignore the theory part , which is also equally important. So, do theory part as well. I would advice you to practice numerical from NCERT and after completing with it move to NCERT exemplar. As per me, no other reference is required , once you go throughly through NCERT. Moreover, practicing previous years questions from each chapter is important, this is not just for physical chemistry , but for all subjects.

? Natasha Yadav? 6 years, 5 months ago

Chemistry is a easy subject as well as scoring . You can easily do it by maintaining regularity and consistency. Understanding and applying various formulas and several applications is also necessary . Last but not the least, you should not study for marks rather than for learning and gaining knowledge, by this you will develop interest in the subject and it would be easy to you.
