White Phosphorus properties:
- Translucent in appearance like white waxy solid
- Poisonous in nature
- Less stable and more reactive
- Does not dissolve in water
- When mixed with carbon disulphide it dissolves
- Glows in the dark(chemiluminescence)
Red phosphorus properties:
- Has iron grey lustre
- Odourless
- Nonpoisonous
- Solubility properties: does not dissolve in water and carbon disulphide
- Does not glow in the dark
- Chemically, white phosphorus is more reactive than red phosphorus

Azeotropes are the binary mixtures of solutions that have the same composition in liquid and vapour phases and that have constant boiling points.
A minimum-boiling azeotrope is formed by solutions showing a large positive deviation from Raoult’s law at a specific composition.
Example: An ethanol–water mixture containing approximately 95% ethanol by volume

Molecular mass of polymers are obtained by osmotic pressure and it is used because it it is the most suitable coligative property for the determination of higher molar masses as, the osmotic pressure gives more accurate determination of molar mass than the elevation in boiling point method, it is because, when we see the formulas,
We get for elevation in boiling point , ΔT = Kb . m (where m = molality)
So, m = ΔT / Kb
Further, moles of solute = molality(m) x mass of solvent in Kg
Molar mass = mass of unknown molecule/ moles of the unknown molecules
Here, m depends on ΔT , which can vary and so the accurate molar mass is not found.
Whereas, in case of Osmotic pressure(∏) , ∏ = MRT ( M = molarity)
So, M = ∏ /RT
Hence, moles of solute = molality(m) x Volume of solution in L
Molar mass = mass of unknown molecule/ moles of the unknown molecules
Here, we see that every quantity is fixed and so determination of molar mass will be accurate.

In a nutshell, the difference between propan-1-ol and propan-2-ol is the position of their respective hydroxyl (-OH) groups. Propan-1-ol has an –OH group attached to its terminal carbon atom while propan-2-ol has an –OH group attached to its middle carbon atom.

When an element possess two or more different forms in the same state, they are called allotropes and the phenomenon is known as allotropy.
Diamond and graphite are the two allotropes of carbon. They are chemically identical. When equal quantities of diamond and graphite are burnt, both of these produce the same amount of carbon dioxide. However, as they exist in different forms in the solid state, they have entirely different physical properties.
