Double salt : (1.) They usually contain two simple solids in molecular portion. (2.) There exist only in solid state. In aqueous solutions dissociate completely into ions. (3.) There are ionic compounds and do not contain any co-ordinate bond. (4.) The properties of double salt are same as those of its constituent compounds. (5.) In a double salt the metal ions show their normal valency. (6.) A double salt loses its identity in the solution. Eg.: KCL.MgCl2.6H20, Mohar's salt. Complex salt : (1.) The simple Salt from which they are formed may or may not be equal proportions. (2.) They exist in the solid state as well as in aqueous solution. This is because even in the solution the complex ions does not dissociate into ions. (3.) They may or may not be ionic but the complex part always contain co-ordinate bonds. (4.) The property of coordination compound are different from its constituents. (5.) In a coordination compound the metal ions satisfy its two types of valency is called primary and secondary valencies. (6.) A coordination compound retains its identity in the solution. Eg.: K4[Fe(CN)6], [Cu(NH3)4]SO4.

Ethylene glycol act as antifreeze solution. The addition of the ethylene glycol to thevwater

Yogita Ingle 5 years, 11 months ago

A solution of ethylene glycol with the water is an example of antifreeze solution. This is used in the radiator of an internal combustion engine to lower the freezing point of the cooling medium.
The addition of the ethylene glycol to the water depresses the freezing point of the water.

Bimolecular dehydration is a way of preparing diethyl ether from the dehydrating action of concentrated sulfuric acid on ethanol. The dehydrating agent, conc. H2SO4 abstracts a hydrogen from one ethanol and a hydroxyl (the -OH group) of the neighbour.By this Sulfuric acid grabs a mole of water.

Because it reacts with O2 and form toxic gas phosgene

Aman Kumar 5 years, 11 months ago

Chloroform gets oxidised by air in the presence of light to a very poisonous gas, carbonyl chloride, also known as phosgene. Therefore, it is stored in closed dark coloured bottles completely filled so that it doesn't get react with air....Hope this helps

The d block elements are called transition elements because the electrons make transition from lower energy state to higher for being added to d block

Yogita Ingle 5 years, 11 months ago

The position of d-block elements is in between the s-block  and p-block elements in the periodic table. These d-block elements are called transition elements because they exhibit transitional behaviour between s-block and p-block elements.

Their properties are transitional between highly reactive metallic elements of s-block which are typically ionic compounds and the elements of p-block which are largely covalent.

The boiling point of substance can be defined as, it is the temperature at which the vapour pressure of the substance equal to atmospheric pressure. According to Raoult's law, the vapour pressure of a solvent decreases in the presence of a non-volatile solute. Thus, the vapour pressure of a solution containing a non-volatile solute requires a high temperature to become equal to the atmospheric pressure. That is why the boiling point of a solution containing a non-volatile solute increases. Thus, the solution containing a non-volatile solute has a higher boiling point than a pure solvent. Example of non-volatile solute sugar, NaCl. etc.
Elevation in boiling point is a colligative property, as it depends on the number of solute particles present in a solution.
