Principle of Conservation of Mechanical Energy states that the energy can neither be created nor destroyed; it can only be transformed from one state to another.  Orthe total mechanical energy of a system is conserved if the forces doing the work on it are conservative.

Efficiency is a measure of how much work or energy is conserved in a process. In many processes, work or energy is lost, for example as waste heat or vibration. The efficiency is the energy output, divided by the energy input, and expressed as a percentage. A perfect process would have an efficiency of 100%.

Projectile motion is a form of motion experienced by an object or particle that is thrown near the Earth's surface and moves along a curved path under the action of gravity only (in particular, the effects of air resistance are assumed to be negligible).

The acceleration due to gravity at the surface of earth is g = G m / R2 . The radius of eath decreases by 2 %, therefore R' = R - 0.02 R = 0.98R. Now acceleration due to gravity will be : g' = GM / ( 0.98 R )2 = 1.04 g Percentage increase in acceleration due to gravity [(g' - g )/g ] x 100 = 4 %
