- The tangential as well as radial walls of the endodermal cells have a deposition of water-impermeable, waxy material suberin in the form of casparian strips.
- Next to endodermis lies a few layers of thick-walled parenchyomatous cells referred to as pericycle.
- The parenchymatous cells which lie between the xylem and the phloem are called conjuctive tissue.
- There are usually two to four xylem and phloem patches, later a cambium ring develops between the xylem and phloem.
- All tissues on the inner side of the endodermis such as pericycle, vascular bundles and pith constitute the stele.

The antigens of the foetus do not get exposed to the {tex}{{Rh}^{-}}{/tex} blood of the mother in the first pregnancy. However, during the delivery of the first child, there is a possibility of exposure of the maternal blood to small amounts of the {tex}{{Rh}^{+}}{/tex} blood from the foetus. In such cases, the mother starts preparing antibodies against Rh antigen in her blood.
In case of her subsequent pregnancies, the Rh antibodies from the mother {tex}({{Rh}^{-}}){/tex} can leak into the blood of the foetus {tex}{{Rh}^{+}}){/tex}. This could cause severe anaemia and jaundice to the baby. This condition is called erythroblastosis foetalis.

A semi-permeable membrane is also called a selectively permeable memebrane or partially permeable membrane. Semi-permeable membranes allow only certain molecules or ions to pass through it through the process of diffussion.
An example of biological semi-permeable is the lipid bilayer of plasma membrane in cells.

Bowman's capsule is a cup-like sack at the beginning of the tubular component of a nephron in the mammalian kidney that performs the first step in the filtration of blood to form urine. A glomerulus is enclosed in the sac. The Bowman's capsule has an outer parietal layer composed of simple squamous epithelium. The visceral layer, composed of modified simple squamous epithelium, is lined by podocytes. Podocytes have foot processes, pedicels, that wrap around glomerular capillaries.
