- Power sharing among the different organs of government (Horizontal power sharing). In a democracy, power is shared among the different organs of the government such as the legislature, executive and the judiciary. This is called the horizontal distribution of power because it allows different organs of the government placed at the same level to exercise different powers. Under this kind of power sharing arrangement, one can exercise unlimited powers. Each organ has its own powers, and it can also check the powers of other. So this results in a balance of power among the various institutions.
- Power sharing among governments at different levels : Under this, people choose separate governments at separate levels, for example, a general local government for the entire country and local governments at the provincial, sub-national or regional levels. Such a general government for the entire country is usually called a Federal government.
- Power sharing among different social groups : In a democracy, especially, in a multi-ethnic society, power is also shared among social groups such as the religious and linguistic groups. ‘Community government’ in Belgium is a good example of this arrangement. In some countries, there are constitutional and legal arrangements whereby socially weaker sections and women are represented in the legislatures and the administration.
- Power sharing among political parties, pressure groups and movements : In a democracy, power is also shared among different political parties, pressure groups and movements. Democracy provides the citizens a choice to choose their rulers. This choice is provided by the various political parties, who contest elections to win them. Such competition ensures that power does not remain in one hand

The status of employment in India is shown below:
- The distribution of the work-force has improved but even today 60% of the workforce finds employment in the primary sector. A remarkable feature of employment’s situation in India is that there has been a shift directly from the primary sector to the tertiary sector in India.
- Though agriculture contributes less than one-fourth to the national income, it employs more than half of the workforce. Primary sector continues to employ the largest number of workers because not enough jobs were created in the secondary and tertiary sector. As a result, almost half of India's population is engaged in the agricultural sector.
- A situation of underemployment prevails in India. A person is willing to work but is not able to get employment of his choice. Disguised unemployment is very common in the agriculture sector. There are more people working in the fields than required. If the extra people are removed, output remains the same.
- The fact that the primary sector employs more but has less contribution in GDP signifies that people in the primary sector are in disguised unemployment. Hence, the status of employment in India is that people are not working to their potential.
- Apart from that, the secondary and tertiary sector employs people with high skills and education. There are people like painters, plumbers and repair persons, who may spend the whole day working but earn very little.

Qualitative aspect of water scarcity refers to scarcity of potable in the areas having sufficient usable water.
For instance, in an area where water is sufficiently available to meet the needs of the people, but the area still suffers from water scarcity. This scarcity may be due to bad quality of water. Lately, there has been a growing concern that even if there is ample water to meet the needs of the people, much of it may be polluted by domestic and industrial wastes, chemicals, pesticides and fertilizers used in agriculture, thus, making it hazardous for human use.
