Satyagraha according to Gandhi was a unique weapon to fight injustice. It was a novel method of mass agitation. It stressed on the principle of truth, non-violence, tolerance and peaceful protests. Gandhi had already organised a successful satyagraha movement in South Africa. He also organised it successfully at Champaran in Bihar, Kheda in Gujarat and Ahmedabad in Gujarat.

And truth being that which is, can never be destroyed. This is the doctrine of satyagraha in a nutshell." For Gandhi, satyagraha went far beyond mere "passive resistance" and became strength in practising non-violent methods. ... As it was incomplete, I had coined the word satyagraha for the Gujarati readers.

We need average income of countries to know which country is rich. We calculate by the formula total income of country divided by total population it is also known as per capita income.

Mohammed Fahad 6 years, 9 months ago

For comparison between countries total income is not such in useful measure since countries we have different populations comparing total income will not tell us what an average person is likely to earn hence we compare the average income which is the total income of the country divided by its total population the average income is also called per capita income.

Different people have different development goals as all are not equally developed. Conflicting goals mean that development goals of a particular person or group is harmful and opposite to another persons development goals. For example a rich business man can have development goal of erecting a large dam. This development goal is conflicting to persons like farmers who want to do farming as erecting dams means lose of farming land for farmers.

Another 40 per cent people live in the Wallonia region and speak French. Remaining 1 per cent of the Belgians speak German. In the capital city, Brussels, about 80 per cent people speak French while 20 per cent are Dutch-speaking. Sri Lanka has a diverse population. The Sinhalese community forms the majority of the population (74%) with Tamils (18%) who are mostly concentrated in the north and east of the island, forming the largest ethnic minority. Other communities include the Muslims. Among Tamils, there are two sub-groups. The Tamil natives of the country are called ‘Sri Lankan Tamils’ (13 %). The Tamils, who were brought as indentured labourers from India by British colonists to work on estate plantations are called the ‘Indian Origin Tamils’ (5%). Most of the Sinhala-speaking people are Buddhists, while most of the Tamils are Hindus or Muslims. There are about 7 per cent Christians, who are both Tamil and Sinhalese.
