(1) In the 17th and 18th centuries, merchants from the towns in Europe began moving to the countryside, supplying money to peasants and artisans, persuading them to produce for an international market.

(2) Merchants could not expand production within towns because urban crafts and trade guilds were powerful. So, they turned to the countryside.

(3) In the countryside, poor peasants and artisans began working for merchants. Cottagers and poor peasants who had earlier depended on common lands for their survival, gathering firewood, berries, vegetables, etc., had to now look for alternative sources of income.

(4) By working for the merchants, they remained in the countryside and continued to cultivate their small plots. It allowed them a fuller use of their family labour resources.

(5) Within this system, a close relationship developed between the town and the countryside. Merchants were based in towns but the work was done mostly in the countryside.

(i) The Simon Commission had to face demonstration all over India, and no party was in favour of the Commission. So in an effort to win the political parties the Viceroy, Lord Irwin, announced in October 1929, a vague offer of “dominion status’ for India in an unspecified future and a Round Table Conference to discuss a future constitution.
(ii) The announcement fell short of the expectations of the Congress. At its Lahore Session, presided over by Pandit Jawaharlal Nehru in December, 1929, the Congress passed a resolution boycotting the Round Table Conference. It declared ‘Purna Swaraj’ (Complete Independence) as its goal, and took steps to launch a programme of Civil Disobedience. The Puma Swaraj Day was celebrated all over India on 26th January, 1930.

Renewable energy is derived from power sources that don't run out, such as wind, water, and solar power. Renewable energy sources are ones which don't run out - which can be renewed. We can keep using them and using them, and we'll never run out. Examples of renewable sources include wind, water power (hydroelectric), and solar power (light from the sun). Non-renewable energy sources are ones which do run out. As we use them to generate energy, they get used up, and can't be used a second time. There are three main non-renewable energy sources, which are fast running out: coal, oil and natural gas.

There are a variety of different types of investments available today – there are short-term investments, long-term investments, and as many different investment strategies as there are investors. Having to choose between this wide arena can at times, prove to be very difficult, as it is a question of finding a compromise between how much risk one is willing to take and how fast they want their investment to grow. This compromise between safety and risk and the comparative rates of growth is what differentiates short-term and long-term investments. Short-term investments are designed to be made only for a little while, and hopefully show a significant yield, whereas long-term investments are designed to last for years, showing a slow but steady increase so that there is a significant yield at the end of the term. Short term investments tend to carry a little more risk with them, showing far higher rates of fluctuation than their long term counterparts. While there is a good chance that you’ll make money with a short-term investment, there is also a chance that you’ll lose money. Investing in stocks and bonds is a good example of a short term investment precise timing in purchasing and sale of stocks could make you a millionaire overnight. The downside being you might end up losing every last penny making a bad bet on an investment. In contrast, long-term investments have the ability to gain small amounts of money over a longer period of time. The slow-but-steady pace of long-term investments allow for a much greater degree of stability and a much lower risk than short-term investments. Long term investments are usually chosen as an investment option when there is a lot of time on hand, as is the case with say, a retirement fund, which continue to grow over the years, maturing just as you need them. But the very same thing that makes long term investment so appealing – the lack of risk, means that one needs to show a lot of patience in making a long term investment. Additionally, with many of the long-term investments that you’ll find, you tend to have much less control over your money until the investment matures. There are usually penalties or fines associated with early withdrawal or selling stocks and bonds through long-term investment programs. Hence, while making an investment, it is prudent to compare the benefits and drawbacks of both short-term and long-term investments and choosing the one that best fits your current financial needs.

The following were the two factors that shaped Indian politics towards the late 1920s: The first was the effect of the economic depression worldwide. It led to a fall in agricultural prices from 1926 and their collapse in 1930. Demand for agricultural goods fell and exports declined. Peasants could not find buyers for their produce and pay their revenue. The British government decided to constitute a statutory commission under Sir John Simon to look into the functioning of the constitutional system in India nad suggest changes. Since, the Commission did not have a single Indian member, it added to a volatile political atmosphere and caused widespread opposition. The Round table Conference of 1929 only offered dominion status which led to assertive posture by radicals within Congress.
