Resource Planning. Resource planning refers to the strategy for planned and judicious utilisation of resources. Resource planning is essential for sustainable existence of all forms of life.
Resource planning is essential for India as there is enormous diversity in the availability of resources. For example the state of Rajasthan has vast potential for the development of solar and wind energy but is deficient in water resources.
The cold desert of Ladakh has rich cultural heritage but is deficient in water and some strategic minerals.
The state of Arunachal Pradesh has abundance of water resources but lacks infrastructure which shows mere availability of resources in the absence of technology and institutions hinders development.
This shows that the resource planning is needed at the national, regional, state and local levels for balanced development of a country.

The Human Development Index HDI is defined as the composite statistics used to rank countries by levels of human development. The HDI is a measure of health, education and income. It measures the average achievements in a country in these three basic dimensions of human development, calculated into an index.

Potential resources - These are those resources which are present in the environment to satisfy human needs, but humans themselves don't have adequate technologies to use them.
Developed resources - These resources have been properly  measured in terms of quantity and quality for utilization. However the development of such resources depends on feasibility too.

  • Workers who receive their salaries at the end of each month have extra cash at the beginning of the month.
  • This extra cash is deposited with the bank by opening a bank account in their name.
  • Banks accept the deposits and also pay an interest rate on the deposits.
  • In this way, people’s money is safe with the banks and it earns an interest as well.
  • People also have the provision to withdraw the money as and when they require.
  • Since the deposits in the bank accounts can be withdrawn on demand, these deposits are called demand deposits.

(i) The soil ranges red to brown in colour.
(ii) The soils contain considerable amount of soluble salts.
(iii) The soils contain a low percentage of organic matter due to dry climate and absence of vegetation.
(iv) The soil is alkaline in nature as there is no rainfall to wash soluble salts.

Forest soil: Productive soils are the foundation of sustainable forests throughout the United States. Forest soils are generally subjected to fewer disturbances than agricultural soils, particularly those that are tilled, so forest soils tend to have better preserved A-horizons than agricultural soils.

India is a federal country. It has governments at both-central and the state levels.

  • After Independence, there were only few parties which formed governments at the centre and at the state levels. When rival parties formed the Government at the state level, the Central Government tried to misuse its powers by dismissing the State Governments. This weakened the federal spirit of our constitution.
  • However, the condition improved after 1990 when many regional parties emerged in different states.
  • This also marked the beginning of the coalition government. Two or more parties formed the Government at the centre in the absence of a clear majority. This led to a new era of power sharing and respecting the independent working of the State Governments.
