Wall of right ventricle is thinner than the left one, since it has to push blood only up to the lungs through the pulmonary aorta. But the left ventricle has to push blood to all parts of the body including the extremities. Hence its wall has to be quite thick.

The Process of Unification of Italy is as follows :
- During the middle of the 19th century, Italy was divided into seven states, of which only Sardinia-Piedmont was ruled by an Italian princely house. Mazzini decided to unite Italy in 1830, He had organised a secret society called 'Young Italy' to achieve his aim.
- Mazzini, a great revolutionary leader of Italy, inspired the youth with the ideas of establishing a single unified Italy. He set up secret societies like Young Italy in Marseilles and Young Europe in Berne with like-minded young men from Poland, France, Italy, and German states.
- After initial failures in 1831 and 1848, King Victor Emmanuel II took up the task of unifying the Italian states through wars.
- Sardinia-Piedmont succeeded in defeating the Austrian forces in 1859 through a tactful diplomatic alliance with France by Count Cavour.
- Armed volunteers marched into South Italy and the kingdom of the Two Sicilies in 1860 under the leadership of Garibaldi, and were successful in winning the support of the local peasants in order to drive out the Spanish rulers.
- In 1861, Victor Emmanuel-II was proclaimed king of united Italy.

History of Nationalism in Britain:
Before the 18th century, different ethnic groups of people were there in the British Isles, such as English, Welsh, Scot and Irish. Each of these ethnic groups had its own cultural and political traditions. Nationalism in Britain was not the result of a sudden upheaval or revolution. It was due to a long drawn process.
The English nation possessed the other three nations of the islands through a steady growth in property, wealth and power. Besides this, the English language, British Flag and National Anthem were promoted as national symbols to identify the nationality of the nation.
The British Parliament became the Chief instrument to curb the power of the monarchy in 1688 through a bloodless revolution. The Act of Union (1707) between England and Scotland formed the United Kingdom of Great Britain.

The 1830s were years of great economic hardship in Europe. There was huge growth in population in the first half of the nineteenth century. Number of unemployed had increased manifold. There was large scale migration from rural areas to urban areas. Such migrants lived in overcrowded slums in the cities. At that time, the industrialization in England was more advanced than in other parts of Europe. Hence, cheap machine-made goods from England gave stiff competition to small producers in the towns of the other European countries. In some regions of Europe, aristocracy was still powerful and the peasants were under the burden of feudal dues and obligations. A year of bad harvest; coupled with price rise in food led to pauperism in town and country.
The year 1848 was one such bad year. Because of shortage of food and high level of unemployment, the people of Paris came out on the roads. The protest was at such a large scale that Louis Philippe had to flee. A National Assembly proclaimed a republic. It granted suffrage to all adult males above 21. It guaranteed the right to work. National workshops were set up to provide employment.

Power sharing is true spirit of democracy because:
- It helps to reduce the possibility of conflict between social groups.
- It is a good way to ensure the stability of the political order.
- A democratic rule involves sharing power with those affected by its exercise, and who have to live with its effects.
- Here, people have a right to be consulted on how they are to be governed. Thus, a legitimate government is one where citizens, through participation, acquire a stake in the system.
- These are the moral reasons which emphasise that the very act of power sharing is valuable.

Women face disadvantage, discrimination and oppression in various ways:
i. In our country, women still lag much behind men despite some improvements since Independence. Gender division is not based on biology, but on stereotypes and social expectations.
ii. Women do all the work inside the home but men do the same kind of work only if they are paid for it.
iii. Majority of women do some sort of paid work in addition to domestic labour. But their work is not valued and does not get recognition.
iv. The literacy rate among women is only 54 percent as compared with 76 percent among men.
v. Similarly, a smaller proportion of girl students go for higher studies. Girls are performing as good as boys in school. But they drop out because parents prefer to spend their resources on their boys' education rather than spending equally on their sons and daughters.
vi. The proportion of women among the highly paid and valued jobs is still very small, On an average, an Indian woman works one hour more than an average man every day.
vii. The Equal Wages Act provides that equal wages should be paid to equal work. However, in almost all areas of work, from sports and cinema to factories and fields, women are paid less than men, even when both do exactly the same work.
viii. The role of women in politics is minimal in most societies.
ix. In many parts of India, parents prefer to have sons and find ways to have the girl child aborted before she is born. Such ***-selective abortion led to a decline in child *** ratio.
x. Woman face harassment, exploitation and violence on the domestic front.
