The importance of tertiary sector is rising in India due to the following reasons:
- In a developing country like India, the Government has to undertake the provision of various services such as health facilities, providing education, credit at cheap rates, police stations and municipal corporations, which are essential for the overall growth of the people and the country.
- In the last few decades, the development of primary and secondary sectors have resulted in the rise of several services that are required for the smooth functioning of these sectors such as banking, transportation and insurance.
- As our country has witnessed the economic development in the last few decades, there has been a rise in the income of the people. Rise in income has resulted in the demand of various services such as private hospitals, schools and professional training institutes.
- The information technology and communication sector has seen a tremendous growth in the last twenty years. This has resulted in the growing importance of the tertiary sector in India.

We have not inherited this world from our forefathers but borrowed it from our children. If we want them to get all the resources , we should work towards sustainable development. Sustainable development means that developmemt should take plave without degrading the environment and the development in the present should not comprimise with the need of future generation. But the sad part is today's development is not sustainable. The ground water level is depleting at a faster rate due to excessive irrigation, etc. Though water is renewed by the hydrologic cycle but we are using the resource before it gets renewed. Simlarly, we have fixed reserves for fossil fuels. Once exhausted they will take millions of years to form again. Besides depleting reserves they also cause global warming .

There should be a supervisor for checking the loan activities of Informal lenders. However, its task is quite difficult because informal sector constitutes many people who have different kind of business of their own, besides lending. They are not registered with the government.

If we talk about public sector then in this the government owns most of the assets and gives all the services to public for example there is a government school in our locality and the activities of that school like children go for tours whether it is domestic or international all the expenses are done by government and students are honored by scholarships and many more things. But at the same time I noticed a hospital in the same locality and that hospital is private, there is no role of government in that hospital everything is a private asset of that hospital’s owner. And the charges are very high sometimes patients can’t afford. So, private sector’s ownership, assets and delivery of services are in the hands of the private individuals or companies.

In Belgium, leaders recognised the existence of regional differences and cultural diversities. The Belgian government accommodated its diverse ethnic population in the following manner:
- Constitution says that the number of Dutch and French speaking ministers shall be equal in the Central government. Thus, no single community can make decisions unilaterally.
- Many powers of the Central Government have been given to the state governments, of the two regions of the country. The state governments are not subordinate to the Central government.
- Brussels has a separate government in which both the communities have equal representation.
- There is a third kind of government, called the ‘community government’. This government is elected by the people belonging to one language community—Dutch, French and German speaking, no matter where they live. This government has the power regarding cultural education and language related issues.
These arrangements helped to avoid a civic strife between the two major communities and a possible division of the country on linguistic lines.
