European history, identical with the history of Europe, was that of its peoples and their cultures and limited, or not, to the lands that they occupied. It would naturally have included the societies from which those present civilisations sprang, namely the Phoenicians, the Hebrews, the Egyptians or whoever.

The 18308 were the years of great economic hardship in Europe due to the following reasons :
(i) There was enormous increase in population all over Europe.

(ii) There were more seekers of jobs than employment.

(iii) People migrated from rural areas to the cities to live in overcrowded slums.

(iv) There was stiff competition between the products of small producers and products imported from England where goods were made by machines as industrialisation had already taken place there.

(v) Peasants’ condition was bad due to burden of feudal dues and obligations.

(vi) The prices of food had risen due to bad harvest. This had resulted in widespread pauperism in town and country.

In late 19th century India, nationalists began recording folk tales sung by bards and they toured villages to gather folk songs and legends. This was done to promote the traditional culture that had been corrupted and damaged by the Western forces. Nationalist thinkers believed that it was essential to preserve this folk tradition in order to discover one’s national identity and restore a sense of pride in one’s past. In Bengal. Rabindranath Tagore began collecting ballads, nursery rhymes and myths, and led the movement for the folk revival.
In Tamil Nadu, Natesa Sastri published a massive four-volume collection of Tamil folk tales, ’The Folklore of Southern India’. He believed that the folklore was national literature, it was ’the most trustworthy manifestation of people’s real thoughts and characteristics’.

The problem faced by the political parties in India are as follows:

1. LACK OF INTERNAL DEMOCRACY :-
Although democracy function with the help of political party but very often lack of internal democracy within the party can be seen.  Generally the power within the party is concentrated in the hands of one or two leaders . Even they do not conduct elections for office bearers or keep membership registers. Ordinary members neither get any inside information of the party nor can the influence the decision within the party. The members are generally dissatisfied with the leaders.

2. DYNASTIC SUCCESSION :
The biggest challenge between the political parties is the issue of dynastic succession. These parties do not have transparent functioning which is why the leaders always try to give unfair advantage to their family members. Hence, a political party remains under the control of one family.. we can take the examples of Congress,SAD, RJD, DMK,etc.

3. MONEY AND MUSCLE POWER :
Another challenge which political parties face is the increased role of money and muscle power especially at the time of elections. Parties these days try to nominate that person as the candidate who is either rich or has sufficient muscle power behind him. Due to this criminals are given tickets from national parties to win majority in elections.

4. LACK OF MEANINGFUL CHOICE :
Political party generally discuss problems which the country is facing and their policy to resolve that problem. They always try to convince the general masses that their policies are better than the other parties. Differences arises only on priority of issue and how these policies are framed. All the political parties are same in one way or the other which is why people don't have any meaningful choice among them.

Yogita Ingle 6 years, 5 months ago

If there were no political party, then each and every candidate would be independent. Current strength of the Lok Sabha is 543. Imagine a situation when none of the 543 members can be brought to think alike on a particular issue. This would lead to a total chaos. An independent candidate would always be more interested in the specific needs of his constituency and would seldom think about the larger interest of the nation. A political party is necessary to bring diverse people on a common platform, so that bigger issues can be taken care of.

Following is the impact of the caste system on the democracy of India:

1. Expression of caste disparities in government gives many underprivileged societies the scope to demand a share of power. In this way, caste, politics has encouraged the OBCs and Dalit castes to people to achieve reliable access to decision-making.

2. Several political and non-political institutions have been obliging and arousing to put an end to prejudice against a particular caste.

3. Exclusive consideration can also lead to adverse consequences as well. It can divert concentration from other pushing matters such as development, poverty and corruption. In some instances, it commences to violence.
