- People had to resign from their government jobs.
- People were asked to withdraw their children from government-controlled or aided schools and colleges.
- People had to boycott foreign goods and use only Indian-made goods.
The main aim of the Non Cooperation movement was the demand of 'Swaraj' or the self government.

- The first step towards evaluating outcome of democracy is to recognise that democracy is just a form of government. It means democracy provides an opportunity and it is the citizens who can take advantage of it.
- The most basic outcome of democracy is that it is accountable to citizens and responsive to their needs and expectations.
- Another outcome of democracy is that it is a legitimate government. It means all decisions are taken as per the constitution only.

Including Export Processing Zones (EPZ) Centre in India is very useful in employing thousands of people. Another additional factor in India is cheap labour. This feature motivates big companies in the west to outsource employees from other region and cause more employment.
- Increase in Compensation: After Globalisation, the level of compensation has increased as compared to domestic companies due to the skill and knowledge a foreign company offers. This opportunity also emerged as an alteration of the management structure.

This change is notified with the purchasing behaviour of a person, especially with those who are associated with foreign companies. Communalism can take several forms in politics – in everyday beliefs, formation of parties based on communities, campaigning or asking for votes, formation of government, etc.
(i) Communalism in daily beliefs : The most common expression of communalism is in everyday life. These routinely involve religious prejudices, stereotypes of religious communities and the beliefs in the superiority of one religion over the other religions. This is so common that we often fail to notice it, even when we believe in it.
(ii) Formation of political parties on the basis of communities : All the communities of the world have a quest for political dominance of one’s own religious community. For those belonging to the majority community, this takes the form of majoritarian dominance. For those belonging to the minority community, it can take the form of a desire to form a separate political unit.
(iii) Political mobilisation on communal lines : It is another frequent form of communalism. Parties based on a particular community make use of sacred symbols, religious leaders, emotional appeal and create fear in order to bring the followers of one religion together in the political arena. In electoral politics, this often involves a special appeal to the interests or emotions of voters of one religion in preference to others.
(iv) Communal riots: Sometimes, communalism takes the most ugly form of communal violence, riots and massacre. India has suffered some of the worst communal riots at the time of partition. The post independence period has also seen large- scale communal violence.

Gandhi had made certain demands on behalf of the whole of the Indian National Congress to the British Government. When these demands were not fulfilled, the Civil Disobedience Movement was launched in 1930. The following are four important features of the movement:
- The movement began with Gandhi’s march from Sabarmati to the coastal town of Dandi in Gujarat. On 6th April, Gandhi reached Dandi where he broke the Salt Law in defiance of the British, by making salt from sea water.
- All classes and categories of people were now asked to not only be uncooperative of the British regime but also break unjust colonial laws.
- As soon as the movement started, all important leaders including Gandhi and Nehru were arrested. In all, 90,000 people were arrested and 67 newspapers were banned.
- During the movement, salt was manufactured in many areas, foreign cloth was boycotted, liquor shops were picketed and peasants refused to pay revenue and chaukidari taxes. A large number of village officials also resigned and forest laws were violated on a large scale.

The drawbacks of majoritarianism are :
1. It asserts that a majority of the population based on religion, language, social class or some other identifying factor, is entitled to a certain degree of primacy in society and has a right to make decisions that affect the society. This can sometimes encroach upon the fundamental rights of the citizens.
2. Majoritarianism is referred to as a majority rule. That means a majority class ruling a minority class. This could lead to conflicts, and dissatisfaction amongst the minorities.
3. Most decisions take place not by majority rule, but by plurality, unless the voting system restricts candidates or options to two only. 4. Due to Arrow's paradox it is not possible to have plurality voting systems with more than two options which adhere to both 'fairness' criteria and rational decision making criteria.
