'Development for one can be destruction for others'. I totally agree with the statement.
Consider the following example:
A builder took a contract of constructing a dam over a river. The river provided water for irrigation to the farmers there. But now due to the construction of dam, the farmers living there will not be getting sufficient water for irrigation. Moreover a major landmass will be occupied for the construction of dam.
By this example we see that the construction of dam was development for the builder but a destruction for farmers.

- When people fought collectively to oppose the British in various movements and struggles, the feeling of nationalism was born.
- Nationalism also grew as a result of various literary and artistic activities. The idea of India came to be associated with the image of ‘Bharat Mata’. This was first created by Bankim Chandra Chattopadhyay. His song ‘Vande Mataram’ in his novel Anandamath inspired the feeling of nationalism in the hearts of millions of Indians.
- Nationalism also developed through movements which attempted to revive Indian folklore. In the late nineteenth century, many nationalists visited villages to collect accounts of folklore. Rabindranath Tagore himself collected many folksongs and ballads in order to inspire people with the feeling of nationalism.
- The tricolour flag became a symbol of Indian nationalism.
- In the nineteenth century, many Indian historians began to write about the glorious past of the country. They contested the claims of the British historians who had asserted that the Indians were primitive and never had any great culture.

Congress (42nd Session) was held in 1927 in Madras. It was here that for the first time the Congress called for Purna Swaraj, or complete freedom, with Jawaharlal Nehru moving the Independence Resolution. 1.The Bardoli Satyagraha that took place in the state of Gujarat, India during the period of the British Raj, was a major episode of civil disobedience and revolt in the Indian Independence Movement. It was led by Vallabhbhai Patel. 2. In 1925, the taluka of Bardoli in Gujarat suffered from floods and famine, causing crop production to suffer and leaving farmers facing great financial troubles. 3.The Govt. has also raised the taxation rate by 30% without paying any heed to the occurence of calamities. The situation for the farmers was grave enough that they barely had enough property and crops to pay off the tax. 4.The Congress leaders started the protest as they found the increase in taxation rate to be unjustified. 5.A no taxation campaign was started under the leadership of Patel where the peasants decided not to pay the taxes. By August 1928, massive tension had built up in the area.

During the 'Age of Revolution', the first insurrection took place in France in July 1830. The Bourbon dynasty, restored during the conservative reaction after 1815, was overthrown by liberal revolutionaries. In its place, a constitutional moarchy with Louis Philippe at is head was installed. This 'July Revolution' led to another insurrection in Brussels and led to Begium becoming independent from the control of the Kingdom of Netherlands. Even before these events, it had been witnessed that France was the political nervecentre of the rest of Europe. Ever since the French Revolution, the political developments in France had direct impact on the rest of the European continent. Hence Metternich said 'When France sneezes, the rest of Europe catches cold'.
