Sustainable development can be defined as an approach to the economic development of a country without compromising the quality of the environment for future generations. In the name of economic development, the price of environmental damage is paid in the form of land degradation, soil erosion, air & water pollution, deforestation, etc. This damage may surpass the advantages of having more quality output of goods and service.

Following steps can be taken to create more employment :—
(i) Increase in irrigation facilities :- Without irrigation only a single crop is grown in most agricultural fields. It means less working opportunities, but if irrigation is provided two or three crops can be grown on the same field. So more people will be employed.
(ii) Improved Roads and Transportation :- If village roads are better built, good transportation facilities are provided then, surplus produce could be sold in city market. This would fetch more income.
(iii) Provide them easy loan :- If people are provided easy bank loans then they could start small business which will make them self dependent.

In 1834, the customs union of Zollverein was formed at the initiative of Prussia and was joined by most of the German states.
- The union abolished tariff barriers and reduced the number of currencies from over thirty to two.
- The creation of a network of railways further stimulated mobility, harnessing economic interests to national unification.
- A wave of economic nationalism strengthened the wider nationalist sentiments growing at the time.
- Varied currencies and weights and measures were obstacles to economic growth, so the creation of a unified economic territory allowing the unhindered movement of goods, people and capital was needed. So, Zollverein was formed.

Federalism is a system of government in which entities such as states or provinces share power with a national government. Federalism helps explain why each state has its own constitution and powers such as being able to choose what kind of ballots it uses, even in national elections. Federalism is the process by which two or more governments share powers over the same geographic area. It is the method used by most democracies in the world. While some countries give more power to the overall central government, others grant more power to the individual states or provinces.
