Casteism is the greatest social challenge before Indians today. Always put a person's merit before their last name and you will have solved an enourmous problem threatening and hampering india's growth since antiquity. Social problems are divided into two types at the individual level and at the collective level. Problems at the individual level are juvenile delinquency, drug addiction, suicide etc. Problems at collective level arise when the instruments of social control flop to normalize the conduct of its members.

HDI stands for Human Development Index. It may be defined as the process of widening people’s choice as well as raising the level of well-being. The concept of HDI goes beyond income and growth to cover all human choices. It puts the people at the centre stage and covers all aspects of human development with the object of improving the conditions of people from all angles. It is a broader approach to development.
Components of Measuring HDI
- Life Expectancy: It is the average expected length of life of a person at the time of birth.
- Per Capita Income: Mean income of the people is an economic unit. It is calculated by dividing the total national income of a country by population. It is calculated in dollars for all the countries so that it can be compared.
- Gross Enrolment Ratio for Three Levels: It means enrolment ratio for primary schools, secondary schools and higher education beyond secondary level.

Panchayati Raj is a system of governance in which Gram Panchayats are the basic unit of administration. Gram Panchayat is a council consisting of several ward members known as Panchs and a President or Sarpanch. They are directly elected by all the adult population living in that ward or village. This feature of Gram Panchayat is very significant. People in a particular village elect their own representatives who sfre very much acquainted or familiar with the local issues. Thus, they can solve the problem of people easily and effectively. I like this feature of Panchayati Raj in our country.

Giuseppe Mazzini He was an Italian revolutionary, who was born in Genoa in 1807. He was sent into exile at the age of 24 in 1831 for attempting a revolution in Liguria. He founded two secret societies, namely Young Italy and Young Europe. He inspired the young members of these societies to involve in revolutionary activities.
Following his ideas and on the model of his secret societies, more such societies were set up in Germany, France, Switzerland and Poland. Austrian Chancellor Duke Matternich once described him as ‘the most dangerous enemy of our social order’.
