Gandhiji used non-violent methods to resist the British oppression. Alluri Sitaram Raju was militant. He organised a military army and attacked symbols of British authority.
Raju was inspired by the Non-Cooperation Movement and persuaded people to wear khadi and give up drinking. He also asserted that India could be liberated only by the use of force, not non-violence. The rebels attacked police stations, attempted to kill British officials and carried on guerrilla warfare for achieving swaraj. Raju was captured and executed in 1924, and over time became a folk hero.

The 2nd round table conference 1931 was held in London . It was attended by Gandhiji as a sole representative of the congress, according to the terms of the Gandhi-Irwin pact of 1931. He conference was soon deadlocked on the minorities issue, with separate electorates being demanded now not only by Muslims but also by the depressed classes. The question of independence or setting up a responsible government receded into the background. The British government refused to concede the immediate grant of Dominion status. So Gandhiji returned to India disappointed.

Alluvial soil can be classified into two groups on the basis of its age - the khaddar and the bhangar. The former is light in colour and is made up of newer deposits. The latter is the older alluvium and is composed of lime nodules or kanker and its composition is clayey. Khadar tends to be more fertile as new layers are deposited year after year during the monsoon season. The bhangar soil, on the other hand, can be cultivated using manure.

Liberalism is more than one thing. On any close examination, it seems to fracture into a range of related but sometimes competing visions.
In this entry we focus on debates within the liberal tradition.
(1) We contrast three interpretations of liberalism’s core commitment to liberty.
(2) We contrast ‘old’ and ‘new’ liberalism.
(3) We ask whether liberalism is a ‘comprehensive’ or a ‘political’ doctrine.
(4) We close with questions about the ‘ reach’ of liberalism .

Renewable resource.
Based on the availability, resources are classified as renewable and non-renewable. Renewable resources: These are the sources which can be replenished over a period of time. An example is forest wood because wood can be grown by reforestation. Non-renewable: These are the sources that cannot be renewed and available in limited quantities. Examples include coal, nuclear, oil, and natural gas. As ground water can continuously supply water resources it falls under the category of renewable resource.

1. Gandhiji strongly believed in the power of truth and the idea of Satyagraha. He felt that if the cause of the fight was true and against injustice, then physical force was not necessary to fight the oppressor.
2. Without the use of aggression, a satyagrahi could appeal to the conscience of the oppressor and persuade him to see the truth, instead of forcing him to accept it through the use of violence. Therefore, the truth was ultimately bound to succeed.
3. After observing the divide in the nationalist movement amongst various communities and groups in India, he made attempts to unite the people of India through the dharma of ahimsa i.e. nonviolence.

1) Gandhiji felt that the movement was turning violent and satyagrahis needed proper training before they were ready for a mass struggle.
2) Some nationalist leaders in the Congress believed that they should take part in the elections to the provincial councils as this will give them an opportunity to oppose the British within the councils and demonstrate to the people that the councils were not truly democratic. They resented to the struggle but could not openly criticize Gandhiji.
3) In 1922, at Chauri-Chaura in Gorakhpur, a peaceful mob turned violent and clashed with the police resulting in the deaths of several policemen.
