The activities of the Tertiary sector help in the development of the Primary Sector and the Secondary Sector. Goods that are produced by the Primary Sector and the Secondary Sector have to be transported and sold in shops. Transfer of money (Banking) and transfer of messages (Communication) are also very essential for the development of the Primary and the Secondary Sector. So, transportation, communication, banking and trade are some of the activities of the Tertiary sector.
There is also another division to the Tertiary sector, which is called the essential services. Activities of doctors, teachers, barbers, tailors, cobblers, administrators and IT professionals are called essential services.
The Tertiary Sector is also called the Service Sector.

Khilafat movement was formed under the leadership of Maulana Shaukat Ali and Muhammad Ali. Its object was to restoration of the Sultan of Turkey is Khalifa of Islam . When Gandhiji launched satyagraha movement against Rowlatt Act(1919) he saw that the movement was limited to towns and cities i.e.it was not a widespread movement. To make it a broad based movement he had to bring muslims and hindus together. So, he supported the muslims in khilafat movement. He successfully pursued the Khilafat committee to accept the non- violent non- cooperation movement is the only effective way to for the government accepts demand.

a. Average income /per capita income which is the total income divided by the population.
b. It serves as an important tool of comparing different nations and classifying them as rich countries or low income countries.
c. It gives us an information about what an average person is likely to earn and therefore is an important indicator of development.
d. World bank has specified the criterion for categorising countries into developed, developing and underdeveloped countries.
e. It is based on assumption that in countries with high per capita income , people would have high standard of living and would be in a position to not only manage their basic necessities but other things required to lead a life.
f. This criteria however only takes into account the quantitative aspect and doe not talk of how the income is distributed among the different sections of the society.
