Rajeshwari Mandal 6 years, 3 months ago

Joule, unit of work or energy in the International System of Units (SI); it is equal to the work done by a force of one newton acting through one metre. ... In electrical terms, the joule equals one watt-second—i.e., the energy released in one second by a current of one ampere through a resistance of one ohm.

Property of carbon

Ayush Pathak 6 years, 3 months ago

Carbon has valency of 4 it means that it can form covalent bond(share electrons) easily with other atoms this property of it is called tetravalency

Gouri Patil 6 years, 3 months ago

Tetravalenncy means it is a property of carbon in which it it has valency of either +4 or -4 it cant donate or gain electron but it can share electrons with other means it can form covalent bonds with them

Harsh Gautam 6 years, 3 months ago

Thanks sweet heart

Yogita Ingle 6 years, 3 months ago

Carbon has a valency of four, so it is capable of bonding with four other atoms of carbon or atoms of some other monovalent element.
This is known as tetravalency of carbon.

Those substances whose smell changes in acidic or basic solutions are called olfactory indicators. For eg: Vanilla extract has a characteristic pleasant smell. An acidic solution does not destroy the smell of vanilla extract. A basic solution destroys the smell of vanilla extract.

Corrosion of some metal is good for other metal because due to corrosion a layer formed around the metal which the metal from corroride again with air .For example corrosion of copper from a green yellowish layet that protect the inner layer of the metal from the further corrosion.

Yogita Ingle 6 years, 3 months ago

Corrosion of some metals is an advantage-
Example: corrosion of aluminium is useful. Corrosion of Aluminium occurs when the metal is exposed to oxygen, according to the following reaction :
4 Al(s) + 3 O2 (g) → 2 Al2O3(s)
Thus a protective layer of aluminium oxide is formed on the surface of the metal, which renders the metal passive and prevents its further corrosion.

On going top to bottom in a periodic table the metallic character of elements increases. This is because the atomic radii decreases which further decreases the effective nuclear charge on valence electrons and the electrons can be lost more easily just by providing a measurable amount of energy.

Aryan Singh 6 years, 3 months ago

Increases as metallic character is directly proportional to chemical reactivity in a group ..

Hydrogenation is the process of converting vegetable oil to vegetable ghee. During hydrogenation, vegetable oils are reacted with hydrogen gas at about 60°C. A nickel catalyst is used to speed up the reaction. The double bonds are converted to single bonds in the reaction. In this way, unsaturated fats can be made into saturated fats i.e. oil is converted into fats.

When we eat sugary food, the bacteria present in our mouth acts on sugar to produce acids. This acid decreases the ph level in our mouth and this leads to the corrosion of tooth enamel and results in tooth decay. Tooth paste acts as a base and it neutralizes the excess acid and prevent tooth decay...
