Corrosion of some metals is an advantage-
Example: corrosion of aluminium is useful. Corrosion of Aluminium occurs when the metal is exposed to oxygen, according to the following reaction :
4 Al(s) + 3 O2 (g) → 2 Al2O3(s)
Thus a protective layer of aluminium oxide is formed on the surface of the metal, which renders the metal passive and prevents its further corrosion.

Hydrogenation is the process of converting vegetable oil to vegetable ghee. During hydrogenation, vegetable oils are reacted with hydrogen gas at about 60°C. A nickel catalyst is used to speed up the reaction. The double bonds are converted to single bonds in the reaction. In this way, unsaturated fats can be made into saturated fats i.e. oil is converted into fats.
