Zinc is more reactive than iron, and loses electrons more easily. The outer layer of zinc of any galvanized material, reacts with the atmospheric oxygen to form Zinc Oxide (ZnO), which is stronger than Zinc. Thus, even if the outer layer of zinc undergoes corrosion, the material is getting coated with a stronger substance (ZnO), and thus is better able to resist corrosion.

AIM: To demonstrate hydrotropism in plants.

PROCEDURE :

  1. Plant a seedling in a vessel containing soil.
  2. Adjacent to the seedling put a porous pot containing water.
  3. Leave the set up for few days.

OBSERVATION :

  1. On examining the roots of seedlings it is observed that the roots bend towards the source of water and do not grow straight.

RESULT :

It confirms that plant shows hydrotropism as the roots bend towards the porous pot of water. As hydrotropism is a plant growth response in which the direction of growth is determined by a stimulus of gradient in water concentration.

Alka Sharma 5 years, 11 months ago

Resistance is an electrical quantity that measures how the device or material reduces the electric current flow through it.

Pk . 5 years, 11 months ago

The resistance offered by a conductor of unit length and cross-section area is called the resistivity of that conductor.

A scientific name for a fart is flatus or flatulence. A flatus or fart is a combination of gases (nitrogen, carbon dioxide, oxygen, methane, and hydrogen sulfide) that travels from a person's stomach to their ****. When a person swallows too much air or eats foods that the human digestive system cannot digest easily, gas becomes trapped in his/her stomach. The bacteria living in our guts also adds to the gas. The only way for this excess gas to exit the body is through the ****. The gas that makes flatus or fart stink is the hydrogen sulfide gas.

When a cell reproduces the DNA also replicates. Cells use a chemical reaction to build copies of their DNA. This creates two copies of the DNA in the reproducing cell in the form of a new nucleus inside the cell. During reproduction, the parent cell divides to give rise to two cells each having a nucleus with similar DNA.

In any situation the first step is the breaking down of glucose(6 carbon molecule) into pyruvate(3 carbon molecule) . Then in the presence of O2 it takes place in mitochondria. It is known as aerobic respiration. In this process the pyruvate further breaks down into CO2 + H2O + energy. Then in the lack of O2 it takes place in our muscle cells. Secretion of lactic acid takes place. In this the pyruvate further breaks down into lactic acid + CO2 + energy. This causes sudden cramps in our muscle cells.

Various methods of asexual reproduction are: i. Binary Fission - Fission in which the parent cell divides to form two similar daughter cells. Example - Amoeba. ii. Multiple Fission - Fission in which the parent cell divides to produce more than two daughter cells. Example - Plasmodium. iii. Budding - The reproductive method in which an organism produces an outgrowth on its body surface, which then matures and develops into a new individual. Example - Hydra. iv. Spore Formation - Spore formation is an asexual mode of reproduction found in certain multicellular organisms like Rhizopus. The thick walled spores have the capacity to develop into new individuals under suitable conditions. v. Regeneration - Regeneration is found in many completely differentiated simple organisms, like Hydra and Planaria. If such an organism is split into several parts, most of the parts will develop into complete organisms. vi. Fragmentation - The reproductive method in which certain multi-cellular organisms, on maturation, break up into smaller fragments, each of which develops into new individual. Example - Spirogyra.

Nutrition in Amoeba: The mode of nutrition in amoeba is holozoic. Nutrition in amoeba involves the following steps (i) Ingestion – Amoeba has no mouth for ingestion of food. It ingests the food by using its pseudopodia. The food is engulfed with little water to form a food vacuole. (ii) Digestion – The food is digested by digestive enzymes present in the cytoplasm which breaks the food into small soluble molecules by chemical reactions. (iii) Absorption – The digested food is absorbed directly into the cytoplasm by diffusion. The digested food spreads out from the food vacuole into the whole cell and after absorption the food vacuole disappears. (iv) Assimilation – Food is used to obtain energy through respiration and the remaining part of the food is used for growth. (v) Egestion – The undigested food collects inside the cell and the cell membrane ruptures. Through this, the undigested food is thrown out of the body.
