  • through natural selection (of variations brought during the course of time)
by genetic drift (accidental changes in the frequency of some genes in a population)
  • by mutation
  • by sudden decrease or increase in the availability of food during a period of some generations.

the principle that when a ray of light, radar pulse, or the like, is reflected from a smooth surface the angle of reflection is equal to the angle of incidence, and the incident ray, the reflected ray, and the normal to the surface at the point of incidence all lie in the same plane.

Fear Fighter 5 years, 7 months ago

Angle of incidence is equal to angle of reflection

Covslent compounds are generally poor conductors of electricity because they do on produce ions in solution or on melting

Gaurav Seth 5 years, 7 months ago

Current is movement of charged ions and electricity is conducted in water from one place to the other by the movement of ions. Since there are no free ions in a covalent compound, they don't conduct electricity.

A strong acid is one that fully dissociates to form H3O+ ions in aqueous solution, where as a weak acid only does so partially. A concentrated acid, on the other hand, is one that has a very high concentration of H3O+ ions in aqueous solution.

  1. When a solution of potassium iodide is added to a solution of lead nitrate taken in a test tube, the precipitation of a yellowish solid is observed. This yellowish solid is lead iodide. Potassium nitrate is formed along with lead iodide.
  2. This is a double displacement reaction.
  3.  When the two ionic compounds / elements exchange their ions is called Double Displacement Reaction.

The balanced chemical equation for the above reaction is:

Balanced Equation: Pb(NO3)2 + 2KI --- 2KNO3 + PbI2

Word Equation: lead nitrate + Potassium Iodide ---- Potassium Nitrate + Lead Iodide.

The gas is hydrogen gas.

A balanced chemical equation can provide the following information :

  1. The reactants and products through their symbols and formulae.
  2. The ratio of molecules of reactants and products.
  3. As molecular masses are expressed in unified mass (u), the relative masses of reactants and products are known from the equation.
  4. If the masses are expressed in grams then the equation also gives the molar ratios of reactants and products.
  5. If gases are involved, we can equate their masses to their volumes and calcu-late the volumes or those gases liberated at given condition of temperature and pressure using molar mass and molar volume relationship.
  6. Using molar mass and Avagadro’s number we can calculate the number of molecules and atoms of different substances from the equation.

A lone pair is the valence electron pair without bonding or withut sharing with other atoms. They are found in the outermost electron shell of an atom, so the lone pairs are a subset of a molecule's valence electrons. They can be identified by examining the outermost energy level of an atom—lone electron pairs consist of paired electrons as opposed to single electrons, which may appear if the atomic orbital is not full. Electron pairs are therefore considered lone pairs if two electrons are paired but are not used in chemical bonding. Thus, the number of lone electrons plus the number of bonding electrons equal the total number of valence electrons in a compound.

The range from 0 to 14 gives a measurement of comparative strength of acid and base solutions. Pure water and other neutral solutions have a pH value of 7. A pH value less than 7 indicates that the solution is acidic, and a pH value greater than 7 indicates that the solution is basic.

Intestine of herbivores is larger than carnivores because herbivores have to digest heavy food like grass ,leavesetc .. where as carnivorous eat light food which can easily digested by them.

Yogita Ingle 5 years, 7 months ago

Cellulose forms the largest part of the herbivore’s food. Digestion of cellulose takes a longer time, because the enzymes are produced by the ruminant bacteria that live in the gut of the herbivore. Longer small intestine ensures that the food stays for a longer duration and proper digestion is possible. In the case of carnivores, cellulose is not present in the diet, thus the length of small intestine is less.
