Evaporation |
Condensation |
By definition, evaporation is a process where water changes into vapour. |
Condensation is the opposite process where water vapour is converted to tiny droplets of water. |
Evaporation occurs before a liquid reaches its boiling point. |
Condensation is a phase change regardless of the temperature. |
In terms of molecular movement, when a liquid is heated or when pressure is decreased the forces of attraction between molecules is low. The liquid then evaporates to a gas. |
When a gas is cooled or when the pressure is increased the forces of attraction between molecules become strong. The gas then condenses to either a liquid or even a solid. |
Evaporation can occur in all surfaces, at all times and at all places. Evaporation is frequent when the air is dry, hot and windy. |
Condensation takes place on salt, hygroscopic nuclei-pollen grains, carbon particles etc.when air temperature is decreased beyond the level of saturation. |
Evaporation usually takes place in low altitudes. |
Condensation happens mainly at higher altitudes. |
When evaporation takes place energy is consumed. |
In the process of condensation energy is released. |

Breaking down of glucose involves two processes. In the first step, it is broken into three carbon molecules called pyruvate. The pyruvate is further broken down into energy in following different ways in various organisms.
1) Aerobic respiration : In this case pyruvate is broken down into water and carbon dioxide along with release of energy. It commonly occurs in mitochondria of cells.
2) Anaerobic respiration in yeast : In yeast cells during fermentation pyruvate is converted into ethanol and CO2 in the absence of O2.
3) Anaeorbic respiration in muscles: Due to lack of oxygen, eg. during vigorous running or exercise, in human muscles, pyruvate is converted to lactic acid.

Reflection |
Refraction |
This phenomenon usually occurs in mirrors. |
This phenomenon usually occurs in Lenses. |
Reflection can simply be defined as the reflection of light when it strikes the medium on a plane. |
Refraction can be defined as the process of shift of light when it passes through a medium leading to the bending of light. |
The light entering the medium returns back in the same direction. |
The light entering the medium travels from one medium to another. |
Considering the light waves, they bounce from the plane and change direction. |
The light waves pass through the surface while simultaneously change from medium to medium. |
The angle of incidence of the light is equal to the angle of reflection. |
The angle of incidence is not equal to the angle of reflection. |

Artificial ecosystems are those ecosystems which are modified and managed by human beings. Crop fields are man-made, plants do not grow naturally rather most of the plants are grown by humans according to the season, type of soil, etc. Thus, crop fields are known as artificial ecosystems. In a crop field, plants do not grow naturally rather most of the plants are grown by humans. An ecosystem is nevertheless present in a crop field, but it is an artificial ecosystem as a major component of the ecosystem comes into origin because of human intervention.

Ozone is a molecule formed by three atoms of oxygen. At the higher levels of the atmosphere, it shields the surface of the earth from ultraviolet (UV) radiation from the sun. It may affect any ecosystem in the following ways:
(i) At the surface of the earth, it is a deadly poison for all lower forms of life.
(ii) If this layer gets depleted, then it may cause cancer in human beings including other plants and animals.

Chlorophyll absorbs red and blue light, “reflecting, and thus appearing, green,” Dr. Pell said. Chlorophyll uses this electromagnetic energy, along with carbon dioxide and water, to make glucose and oxygen. ... So a plant with red leaves probably has higher than usual amounts of anthocyanins. The red colour is caused by pigments called anthocyanins. ... Most plants have naturally low levels of these pigments and appear green most of the time. However, in certain situations these 'green' plants will produce higher levels of anthocyanins leading to a change in colour in their stems and leaves.

In a battery, chemical reactions occur as a result of which electrons are transferred from one terminal to another - in other words there is a potential difference between the poles. ... The negative terminal of the cell repels the electrons from the nearby atoms. All voltage sources have two fundamental parts—a source of electrical energy that has a characteristic electromotive force (emf), and an internal resistance r. The emf is the potential difference of a source when no current is flowing.
