Because when when rain falls water creates a layer of water where friction is very low.

Yogita Ingle 5 years, 5 months ago

It is usually seen that during rainy days we tend to slip because rainwater acts as a lubricant between our feet and ground. This lubrication (rainwater) converts the dry friction into fluid friction. That is the friction between feet and ground reduces making us slip.

Sandy and marshy soil is soft and loosely held. Being loosely held cannot give the normal reaction equal and opposite to the weight of human body. This results in sinking of the feet down in to the sand or soil. This results in rising of the feet every time from the soil or sand. Rising the feet every time from soil needs an extra work to be done in the lifting the feet against the drag of the marshy soil/sand so walking becomes difficult.

Parallel combination is a combination where two or more than two resistors are connected in parallel.

? Pranali.A.P ? 5 years, 5 months ago

So we can define a parallel resistive circuit as one where the resistors are connected to the same two points (or nodes) and is identified by the fact that it has more than one current path connected to a common voltage source.

Also, when you look at yourself in a mirror your size is the same in actual. Whereas your photograph is a miniature of your image. But, your photograph is similar yo your image in the mirror.

Yogita Ingle 5 years, 5 months ago

When you look at your photo, it implies that you are looking at an image which has been obtained on a screen. but when you look at your face in a mirror it can not be obtained on a screen. Thus the photograph is a real image as it CAN be obtained on a screen while you face in a mirror is a virtual image as it CANNOT be obtained in a screen.

Further, I have read somewhere that you you look 5 times more beautiful when you look into a mirror than you actually are. I don't know why but this is a proven fact. Such is not the case in photograph.

When an acidic solution is diluted with water the concentration of H + ions decreases and the pH of the solution increases towards 7. To make the pH change by 1, a tenfold dilution is required (eg adding 9 cm 3 of water to 1 cm 3 acid). The acid is becoming less acidic.

If you substitute baking soda for baking powder you are missing your acid . Due to the absence of acid your cake or bread will not rise as much as you expected.

? Pranali.A.P ? 5 years, 5 months ago

If you substitute baking soda for baking powder, you're missing your acid, and your cake or bread will not rise, or at least will not rise as much as expected. If you don't have baking power, you can add extra acid to your batter in the form of buttermilk, vinegar or cream of tartar.

The direction of an electric current is by convention the direction in which a positive charge would move. Thus, the current in the external circuit is directed away from the positive terminal and toward the negative terminal of the battery. Electrons would actually move through the wires in the opposite direction. By convention, current is assumed to travel from positive to negative direction. The electrons travel from negative to positive. The direction of current is not the same as direction of flow of electrons; they are opposite.

Direct Current:

1) It is derived from a cell or a battery and is uni-directional.

2) The positive and negative terminals are fixed.

3) The voltage v/s time graph is represented by a stariaght line parallel to time axis.

Thus the value of voltage or current remains constant with time

Alternating Current:

1) The current changes its direction after equal intervals of time.

2) It has no fixed terminals as the current reverses its direction after every half cycle.

3) The voltage Vs time graph is generally represented by a sinusoidal curve.

Baking soda is a chemical compound which is also called as - Sodium bicarbonate (NaHCO₃).

1. Antacid / medicine - NaHCO₃ acts like an absorbable antacid. Baking soda imitates the action of natural sodium bicarbonate in the body and neutralizes the stomach acid relieving acid reflux.

2. Food/ Baking - When baking soda is mixed with moisture and with an acidic substance like yogurt, buttermilk etc, a chemical reaction occurs which produces carbon dioxide gas as bubbles. These bubbles expand under hot temperatures like in the oven while it is baking. This causes the baked bread or cake to become soft and spongy.

3. Soda-acid fire extinguisher - A soda-acid fire extinguisher is usually a mixture of baking soda and an acid which is commonly sulfuric acid. It is used as a pressurized expeller to put off the fire. When it is expelled, a reaction in between the contents of the soda-acid occurs which releases carbon dioxide that extinguishes the fire.

The main difference between mineral acid and organic acid is that mineral acids are inorganic compounds composed of different chemical element combinations whereas organic acids are organic compounds essentially composed of carbon and hydrogen atoms. For example, HCN has a carbon atom although it is an inorganic acid. Organic acids have carbon and hydrogen as constituents. Inorganic acids or mineral acids need not have carbon and hydrogen. example of organic acid- the sulfonic acids, of formula R-SO3H.

Hydrogen gas and zinc sulphate are formed when zinc granules are treated with sulphuric acid.

Zn + H2SO4 ⇨ ZnSO4 + H2

Zinc chloride and hydrogen gas are formed, when zinc granules are treated with hydrochloric acid.

Zn + 2HCl ⇨ ZnCl2 + H2

Similarly, hydrogen gas and zinc nitrate are formed when zinc granules are treated with nitric acid.

Zn + 2HNO3 ⇨ Zn(NO3 )2 + H2

Since, zinc is less reactive than sodium, thus no reaction takes place when zinc granules are treated with sodium chloride.

Sodium zincate and hydrogen gas are formed when zinc granules are treated with sodium hydroxide and water.

Zn + 2H2O + 2NaOH ⇨ Na2Zn(OH)4 + H2
