During an erection, the arteries expand to increase blood flow to the *****. The blood fills two tubes of spongy tissue in the ***** (corpus cavernosa). This causes them to swell, making the ***** larger and stiff, so it angles out from the body. The veins narrow, which traps the blood and maintains the erection.

The focal length of a mirror does not depend upon the nature of the medium in which it is placed whereas the focal length of a lens depends upon the medium in which it is placed. Thus, there will be no change in the focal length of the concave mirror whereas the focal length of the convex lens will change.

Double fertilization : It occurs when one male nucleus fertilizes (fuses) with egg cell to form zygote cell and other male nucleus fuses (fertilizes) with two polar nuclei to cause triple fusion. As these two types of fertilizations take place at the same time in the ovule of the plant, it is known as double fertilization.
After fertilization:
(i) Ovary develops into fruit.
(ii) Ovules develop into seeds.

When iron reacts with air, it forms iron oxide (rust)

4Fe + 3O2 →  2Fe2O3

In this reaction, oxygen is added to iron, thus, iron is oxidized. Here oxygen is oxidizing agent.

Due to exposing of moisture and acid attack on the surface of metals there started forming of a powdery substance usually known as rust then the process is known as corrosion.

Yogita Ingle 5 years, 4 months ago

When some metals are exposed to moisture, acids etc., they tarnish due to the formations of respective metal oxide on their surface. This process is called “corrosion”.
1) 4 Ag + 2H2S + O2 →  2Ag2S + 2H2O
2) 2 Cu + O→  2 CuO

Khush Kaur 5 years, 4 months ago

It is a process of slow and gradual conversion of a metal into its compound by the attack of air and moisture present in the atmosphere. Example - reddish brown coating on iron

Life without light would have been pretty dull. Light travels at a speed of 186,000 miles per second. You must have observed that in your house that whenever a beam of light enters a dark room through a tiny hole in the window, the lightwave always travels in a straight line.

Let us carry out a small activity to show that lightwave travels along a straight line. Take three CD’s and align them together. Align them in such a way that all the CD’s line in a straight line. Now take a candle and place it at the other end. Do make sure that the tip of the candle and the holes of the CD’s all lie in the straight line. Ensure that the height of the CD’s and the tip of the candle are same. Observe the flame of the candle. We are able to see the flame of the candle because the light wave travels through the holes and reaches our eye.

Now if suppose we displace the center of the CD’s we observe that we are not able to see the flame of the candle. Why does that happen? This is because the light gets blocked. If the light could have the ability to take a curve and travel, we could have seen the lightwave. But since light travels in a straight line, we were unable to see the flame of the candle when the CD is displaced. This proves that light travels along a straight line

In the above picture, we can clearly see that light coming through the holes in the window travel along a straight line

The copying of DNA during reproduction is important because:

  • The replication of DNA ensures that each daughter cell formed at the end of cell division, receives equal amount of DNA.
  • If DNA won't be copied then the daughter cells won't receive all necessary genes.
  • There may be absence of important proteins which are encoded by DNA, if DNA won't be replicated.
  • Copying of DNA may result in recombination which will lead to evolution.
  • Transfer of genetic material from one generation to other makes the organisms to have similar functions.
  • Stability of population is maintained.

The amount of current flowing through the electrical component is reduced by half.

Explanation:

According to Ohm’s law

V = IR

where

V= potential difference

I= Current

R = Resistance

By modifying the equation

I=V/R ——- (i)

potential difference across the two ends of the component decreases to half

therefore, the new potential difference be Vʹ=V/2

Resistance remains constant across the electrical component

new current is drawn by the electrical component is Iʹ = Vʹ/R

= (V/2)/R        {Substituting Vʹ=V/2 in the above equation}

= (1/2) (V/R)

= (1/2) I = I/2

Hence the amount of current flowing through the electrical component is reduced by half.

Avinash S 5 years, 4 months ago

Current will also get halved because current is directly proportional to potential difference
