Because diamond ? is a non metal too

Satyarth Raj 5 years, 2 months ago

Diamond is bad of electricity because carbon combined all four electron and there is no free electron

Yogita Ingle 5 years, 2 months ago

  1. In diamond, each carbon atom is covalently bonded with four other carbon atoms.
  2. So, the four outermost electrons of a carbon atom are engaged or trapped in the covalent bonds, having no free electrons making it a bad conductor of electricity.

Sl. No. Differentiating Property Resistance Resistivity
1 Definition Resistance is the physical property of a substance because of which it opposes the flow of current i.e. electrons. Resistivity is the physical property of a particular substance which is having particular dimensions.
2 Proportionality Resistance is directly proportional to the length and temperature while it is inversely proportional to the cross-sectional area of the material. Resistivity is only proportional to the nature and temperature of the particular material.
3 Symbol R ρ
4 Formula R = V/I or,
R = ρ(L/A)V = Voltage, I = Current, ρ = Resistivity
ρ = (R×A)/L

R = Resistance, L= Length, A = Cross-sectional area

5 SI Units The SI unit of resistance is Ohms The SI unit of resistivity is Ohms-meter.
6 Applications The property of resistance is used in several places like heaters, fuses, sensors, etc. Electrical resistivity measurement is used as a quality control test for calcareous soil.

they are called as convergent and divergent mirror:

When parallel light rays fall on the surface of convex mirror then after reflection those rays seem to meet (diverge) at a single point but actually they do not meet. So, it is called diverging mirror.

When parallel light rays fall on the surface of a concave mirror, all the rays after reflection converge(meet) at a single point(focus). Hence, a concave mirror is also called a converging mirror.

Gaurav Seth 5 years, 2 months ago

All the light rays reflected by concave mirror converges at its focus. Hence, concave mirror is also known as converging mirror.

Gaurav Seth 5 years, 2 months ago

Concave mirror

Convex mirror

A spherical mirror whose reflecting surface is curved inwards is called a concave mirror.

A spherical mirror whose reflecting surface is curved outwards is called a convex mirror.

A parallel beam of light falling on this mirror converges at a point after reflection.

A parallel beam of light falling on this mirror appears to diverge from a point after reflection.

It is also called a converging mirror.

It is also called a diverging mirror.

It has a real focus.

It has a virtual focus.

The magnification of a concave mirror can be greater, equal or less than 1.

The magnification of a convex mirror is always less than 1.

These mirrors are used as reflectors in projectors, light-house headlights, searchlights, etc.

These mirrors are used as rear-view mirrors in cars and motorcycles, as they enable the driver/rider to view the road and vehicles behind.

Gaurav Seth 5 years, 2 months ago

An object is placed 10 cm from a convex mirror of radius of curvature 60 cm then find position of image

A n s w e r :

Radius of curvature = 60 cm ; hence focal length f = 30 cm

We have mirror equation :

where v is image to mirror distance, u is object to mirror distance. we get v = -7.5 cm from above equation.

Hence image is formed at a distance 7.5 cm behhind the convex mirror

Solution :

Given: Two resistors with resistances R1=5ohm and R2=10ohm, V=6volt

(a) For minimum current these two should be connected in series. For maximum current these two should be connected in parallel.

(b)In series,

Total resistance = 5+10 = 15ohms

Therefore total current drawn = V/R = 6/15 = 0.4amps

In parallel,

Total resistance R is given as 1/R=1/R1+1/R2

1/R =1/5+1/10

1/R=3/10

R=10/3 ohm

Therefore total current drawn by the circuit = V/R = 6/(10/3) =1.8amps.

Ohm’s Law

George Simon ohm(in 1826)studied relationship between I and V across the ends of conductor.

Ohm’s Law states that electric current flowing in a conductor is directly proportional to potential difference across the ends of the conductor,provided temperature and other physical conditions remains constant.

V=IR

R=Resistance of conductor

Resistance of a conductor is the property of conductor to oppose the flow of charge through it.

R = V/I

The field of a synchronous generator is the winding to which the DC excitation current is applied. The armature is the winding to which the load is connected. In small generators, the field windings are often on the stator, and the armature windings are on the rotor. The core of an armature is made up of lots of thin metal plates called laminations, which are usually about 0.5mm thick. The thickness of laminations depend upon the frequency at which the armature is designed to work. Laminations are stamped out on a press.

A nephron is the basic structural and functional unit of the kidneys that regulates water and soluble substances in the blood by filtering the blood, reabsorbing what is needed, and excreting the rest as urine. Its function is vital for homeostasis of blood volume, blood pressure, and plasma osmolarity. The functional unit of the kidney is the nephron and it is called the functional unit because its the smallest structure in the kidney that can carry out its functions.

Optical density is the process of transmission of light or other electromagnetic radiation by matter. A measure of the transmittance through an optical medium. In spectroscopy, optical density is the measure of absorbance, and is defined as the ratio of the intensity of light falling upon a material and the intensity transmitted. The optical density of a material relates to the sluggish tendency of the atoms of a material to maintain the absorbed energy of an electromagnetic wave in the form of vibrating electrons before reemitting it as a new electromagnetic disturbance.

The variation is important and beneficial for species as it allows a species to adapt to a changing environment.

For example, climate change can force a species to shift its range to poleward or to higher altitudes.

Only those who adopt the changes can survive in harsher conditions by adapting to the changes.

For an individual, the variation doesn't matter in most of the conditions.

Take the example of we humans, if a climate change happens, we can shed our clothes and our body will help us control the temperature, and if the environment gets colder, we can wear more clothes to protect us.

However, in conditions like any new virus or bacteria attack which is harmful to humans, our body has to adapt according to this scenario or we will perish.

  • Lightning can be explained in terms of charges produced due to rubbing. During a thunderstorm, the air currents move upwards and the water droplets move downwards. And this caused due to the separation of charge due to this vigorous motion.
  • As a result of this process, the positive charges collect near the upper edge and the negative charges accumulate near the lower edge of the cloud and also near the ground.
  • As the charge gets accumulated, its magnitude becomes very large. Water droplets in the air act as a conductor of this charge.
  • These charges flow to meet, thus producing strikes of lightning and thunder. For this phenomenon to occur, a sufficiently high elect
