carbon can neither gain nor lose electrons because 1 If carbon gains 4 electrons to form c4- ions then carbon will have 10 electrons and 6 protons cannot hold on to 10 electrons. 2 If carbon loses 4 electrons to form c4+ ions then a lot of energy is required which is not possible. Hence carbon shares electrons to form covalent bonds.

Yogita Ingle 5 years, 1 month ago

Carbon has four electrons in it's valence, and possess the property of catenation. It forms covalent bonds, and hence, leads to the formation of different elements.
It cannot lose or gain electrons, due to it's tetravalency

Arnav Raj 5 years, 1 month ago

Because it is tertravalent element which have to tendency to share their electrons

The Dental Formula is expressed as:
(The number of each type of teeth in the upper jaw) / (The number of teeth on one side of the lower jaw)

    Dental Formula =                                                                                                                                                 (2 incisors 1 canine 2 premolar 3 molar) / (2 incisors 1 canine 2 premolar 3 molar)

Humans have two dental formulae:

The primary dentition (20 teeth):

I2/2 C1/1 M2/2 = 10

The permanent dentition (32 teeth):

I2/2C1/1 P2/2 M 3/3 = 16.

Where: I – Incisors, C-Canine  and M-Molar

Among all other mammals, both humans and apes have similar sets of teeth and dental formulae.

Singh Yadav 5 years, 1 month ago

In humans, the deciduous dentition consists of 20 total teeth, with the dental formula 2102 (or 2102/2102), indicating two incisors, one canine, zero premolars, and two molars in each quadrant.

The chemical properties of an element are due to the distribution of electrons around the atom's nucleus, particularly the outer, or valence, electrons; it is these electrons that are involved in chemical reactions. By convention, elements are organized in the periodic table, a structure that captures important patterns in their behavior. ... These properties determine an element's physical state at room temperature—gas, solid, or liquid—as well as its chemical reactivity, the ability to form chemical bonds with other atoms.

A cuticle, or cuticula, is any of a variety of tough but flexible, non-mineral outer coverings of an organism, or parts of an organism, that provide protection. Various types of "cuticle" are non-homologous, differing in their origin, structure, function, and chemical composition.

Janki Shukla 5 years, 1 month ago

Yes sir

Yogita Ingle 5 years, 1 month ago

In plants cuticle is the layer of wax and cutin that covers the outermost surfaces of a plant. The cuticle is secreted by the epidermis and helps prevent water loss and infection by parasites.

In animals, cuticle is the noncellular, hardened or membranous protective covering of many invertebrates ( the transparent membrane that covers annelids). It is also the outer layer of the skin covering the exterior body surface of vertebrates.

Reproduction- the process by which parent produces their offspring of the same kind of the same species This process is very important in maintaining stability in the ecosystem and for the continuation of life on earth.

Yogita Ingle 5 years, 1 month ago

Reproduction is the process by which new individuals are produced by the parents. The process of reproduction ensures that a plant or animal species does not disappear from Earth. This process is very important in maintaining stability in the ecosystem and for the continuation of life on earth. Had there been no reproduction, all the species would have become extinct.

Importance of Reproduction

  • Reproduction maintains a balance between the birth rate and death rate.
  • The new individuals replace the old and the dying population.
  • It also helps in increasing the number of species in the ecosystem.
  • The genes are transmitted from the parents to the offspring.
  • This leads to the evolution of species.
  • Variations in species and their ability to survive in different environments is the result of reproduction.

Rahul Kumar 5 years, 1 month ago

Destarching occurs in a plant when a part of a plant is "deprived of starch, as by translocation". It is also the process of eliminating starch reserves in a plant for experiments concerning photosynthesis.

To prove the necessity of sunlight in photosynthesis following steps need to do

  • Take a plant with destarched leaf.
  • Leaf is partially covered with black paper on which a design is cut.
  • Expose this plant to sunlight for few hours and perform a starch test with iodine solution.

Observation-

  • Covered leaf part shows brown colouration.
  • Exposed leaf shows blue-black colour.

Result- Starch is present in the exposed leaf.
Conclusion- Leaf exposed to sunlight give iodine test, proving that sunlight is necessary for photosynthesis.

A food chain is a series of organisms where all the organismsare dependent on next organism as a source of food. The series of organism take part at various biotic levels to form a food chain. Each step of the food chain forms a tropic level. ... Tertiary consumers (larger carnivores) form the fourth tropic level. A food chain is a linear sequence of organisms through which nutrients and energy pass as one organism eats another. In a food chain, each organism occupies a different trophic level, defined by how many energy transfers separate it from the basic input of the chain.

DNA copying is otherwise known as DNA replication which is the process of producing 2 identical copies of DNA from one original DNA molecule during cell division. DNA copying is important because it generates variation during sexual reproduction which leads to evolution. Also, DNA copying helps in transfer of information or characters from the parents to the offsprings.

So CH4, C2H6, and C3H8 are homologs. The same thing can be observed in case of alkenes in which the first member is ethene and the successive members are C3H6, C4H8, and C5H10. They differ from each other by a –CH2 unit. Alkene formula is written as CnH2n.

(a). Organism with filamentous body, break into two or more fragments e. g : Spirogyra. (b). Regeneration : organism's body break up into one or several party. Than each part develops into a new individual. e. g : planaria, hydra.

Yogita Ingle 5 years, 2 months ago

(a) Fragmentation is defined as the process of breaking up of body on maturation into two or more smaller pieces. Each piece of the body results in development of new individuals. The multicellular organism which reproduces by fragmentation is spirogyra.

(b) Regeneration is defined as the process of growing a full organism from its body part. The examples of regeneration are: Hydra and Planaria. When the body of Planaria is cut into number of pieces, the each and every body piece can regenerate and results in formation of a complete Planaria. The regeneration of an organism occurs by the process of growth and development The cells of body part which has been cut down gets divides and makes a ball of cells. These multiple cells result in formation of tissues and forms organs again and results in regeneration of another Planaria. It can be explained with the help of the following diagram:

DNA-(deoxyibose nucleic acids) DNA copying leads to the formation of two exactly identical cell but any error in duplication can lead to dissimulation cells of variations

Yogita Ingle 5 years, 2 months ago

The copying of DNA during reproduction is important because:

  • The replication of DNA ensures that each daughter cell formed at the end of cell division, receives equal amount of DNA.
  • If DNA won't be copied then the daughter cells won't receive all necessary genes.
  • There may be absence of important proteins which are encoded by DNA, if DNA won't be replicated.
  • Copying of DNA may result in recombination which will lead to evolution.
  • Transfer of genetic material from one generation to other makes the organisms to have similar functions.
  • Stability of population is maintained.

A S 5 years, 2 months ago
