The process of respiration in plants involves using the sugars produced during photosynthesis plus oxygen to produce energy for plant growth. In many ways, respiration is the opposite of photosynthesis. As with photosynthesis, plants get oxygen from the air through the stomata.

Plaster of Paris is obtained by heating gypsum or calcium sulphate dihydrate to about 140-180 degree Celsius. When heated to such a temperature, gypsum forms Plaster of Paris. The name is derived from the large deposits of gypsum in the Montmartre hill in Paris.

Assertion : Brown fumes are produced when lead nitrate is heated.
This is true.
When lead nitrate is heated strongly, NO2 and O2 are given out.
In this decomposition reaction, the colourless compound lead nitrate forms a yellow compound, lead monoxide, and brown fumes of nitrogen dioxide gas are evolved.
Reason: Nitrogen dioxide is produced as a by product due to the decomposition of lead nitrate.
This is true.
2 Pb(NO3)2 → 2 PbO + 4 NO2 + O2
Both Assertion and Reason are correct and Reason explains the assertion.
Option A is correct.

The concave mirror in a reflecting mirror collects the light from distant celestial objects. Since the light sources are very far away, the incoming light rays are effectively parallel. The concave mirror focuses the light rays on a flat mirror, kept at its focal distance.
