Is the sum of n positive integers formula, n(n+1)2n(n+1)2, applicable to sets of consecutive integers as well? For instance, if I wanted to calculate sum of first 20 multiples of 3, could I use: 3 x 20(21)220(21)2 a similar approach has been used for even numbers.

1+2+3+4.........infinity =-1/12 So the sum of all the integer is -1/12
n(n+1)/2

Here we have to find HCF of 1190 and 1445 and express the HCF in the form 1190m + 1445n.
1445 = 1190 × 1 + 255
1190 = 255 × 4 + 170
255 = 170 × 1 + 85
170 = 85 × 2 + 0
So, now the remainder is 0, then HCF is 85
Now,
85 = 255 - 170
= (1445 - 1190) - (1190 - 255 × 4)
= 1445 - 1190 - 1190 + 255 × 4
= 1445 - 1190 × 2 + (1445 - 1190) × 4
= 1445 - 1190 × 2 + 1445 × 4 - 1190 × 4
= 1445 × 5 - 1190 × 6
= 1190 × (- 6) + 1445 × 5
= 1190m + 1445n , where m = - 6 and n = 5

By solving am=1/n we get equation i.e.,a+dm-d=1/n. Similarly solving an=1/m we get equation i.e.,a+dn-d=1/m. By eliminating these two equations we d=1/mn. Substitute this value of d in equation 1 . We get a=1/mn. Then find Amn,we Amn=1. By this find Smn i.e., Smn=mn/2{a+Amn} we get 1/2{mn+1]. Hence proved....

Aryan Khare 6 years, 11 months ago

I/n=a+(m-1)d......1/m=a+(n-1)d.........subtract......1/n-1/m=a-a+(m-1-n+1)d..........(m-n)/mn=(m-n)d.......d=1/mn......put the value of d in eq (1) you get a=1/mn.......now put the formulae of sn.......mn/2[(2/mn+(mn-1)1/mn]........mn/2(2+mn-1)1/mn....then we get sn=1/2(mn+1)

A and B are on circle

so OA=OB=r

OA^2=OB^2

(4-2)^2 +(3-3)^2=(x-2)^2+(5-3)^2

or 4+0=(x-2)^2+4

(x-2)^2=0

x-2=0

x=2

Gaurav Seth 6 years, 11 months ago

Given centre of circle is O(2, 3) Points on the circle are A(4, 3) and B(x, 5) OA =OB (Radii) à (1) Recall the distance between two points formula  Squaring on both the sides, we get

 x – 2 = 0

∴ x = 2

Gaurav Seth 6 years, 11 months ago

The area of a circle is determined by the formula (pi)r2
The best way for you to approach this problem is by using a sample diameter. Let's use 4, since it's easy.
1: Multiply 4 by 0.40= 1.6. So your new diameter is 5.6.
2: Divide the diameter by two to get the radius => 2.8.
3: Square the radius => 7.84. Now multiply by pi, using 3.14 ==> 24.62.
4: Find the original area of the circle ==> 22*3.14 ==> 12.56.
5: 24.62/12.56=1.96 ==> The new is 196% of the original, so the area changes by 96%.
