Both side 7=p²/q², 7q²=p²--------(1) 7q² is divisible by 7, p² is divisible by 7, p is divisible by 7, Let p=7a, Putting the value in equation 1. 7q²=(7a)² 7q²=49a² q²=7a² 7a²is divisible by 7 q² is divisible by 7 q is divisible by 7 Both p and q have common factor 7. Therefore our supposition is wrong. √7 is irrational.
