Let √7 be a rational number say p/q where q is not equal to zero and p and q are coprime. √7=p/q Sq. Both side 7=p²/q², 7q²=p²--------(1) 7q² is divisible by 7, p² is divisible by 7, p is divisible by 7, Let p=7a, Putting the value in equation 1. 7q²=(7a)² 7q²=49a² q²=7a² 7a²is divisible by 7 q² is divisible by 7 q is divisible by 7 Both p and q have common factor 7. Therefore our supposition is wrong. √7 is irrational.

A(7,-2), B(5,1), C(3,2K)

Δ = 1/2[(x₁y₂+x₂y₃+x₃y₁)-(x₂y₁+x₃y₂+x₁y₃)

Δ = 1/2[(7+10K-6)-(-10+3+14K)] = 1/2[1+10K+7-14K] = 1/2[8-4K] = 4-2K

GIVEN THE POINTS ARE COLLINEAR

Δ = 0

4-2K = 0

2K = 4

K = 2
