867 is grater then 225
867 = 225 × 3 + 192
225 = 192 × 1 + 33
192 = 33 × 5 + 27
33 = 27 ×1 + 6
27 = 6 × 4 + 3
6 = 3 × 2 + 0
Therefore HCF of 867 and 225 = 3

Given √2 is irrational number.
Let √2 = a / b wher a,b are integers b ≠ 0
we also suppose that a / b is written in the simplest form
Now √2 = a / b
⇒ 2 = a2 / b2
⇒ 2b2 = a2
∴ 2b2 is divisible by 2
⇒ a2 is divisible by 2
⇒ a is divisible by 2
∴ let a = 2c
a2 = 4c2
⇒ 2b2 = 4c2
⇒ b2 = 2c2
∴ 2c2 is divisible by 2
∴ b2 is divisible by 2
∴ b is divisible by 2
∴ a are b are divisible by 2 .
this contradicts our supposition that a/b is written in the simplest form
Hence our supposition is wrong
∴ √2 is irrational number.

A number which cannot be written in the form , where a and b are integers and b ≠ 0 is called a irrational number. Irrational numbers which have non-terminating and non-repeating decimal representation. The sum or difference of a two irrational numbers is also rational or an irrational number.

- Total number of balls = 12
Total number of white balls = x
∴ P (getting a white ball) = {tex}\frac{x}{12}{/tex} - 6 more white balls are put in the bag
∴ total number of balls = 18
Total number of white balls = x + 6
∴ P (getting a white ball) = {tex}\frac{x+6}{18}{/tex}
But, according to the question= {tex}2\times \frac{x}{12}=\frac{x+6}{18}{/tex}
⇒ {tex}x=\frac{x+6}{3}{/tex}
⇒ 3x = x+6, 2x=6
⇒x = 3

For a pair of given positive integers ‘a’ and ‘b’, there exist unique integers ‘q’ and ‘r’ such that
a=bq+r , where 0≤r<b
Explanation: Thus, for any pair of two positive integers a and b; the relation
a=bq+r , where 0≤r<b
will be true where q is some integer.
