Given that the zeroes of the following polynomial are a-b, a and a+b :
We are to find the values of a and b.
We know that if p, q and r are the zeroes of a polynomial then
So, for polynomial (i), we get
and
Thus, the required value of a is 1 and that of b is ±√2.

Let the numerator and denominator be x and y respectively.
Fraction = x/y
Case I : A fraction becomes 4/5 if 1 is added to both numerator and denominator.
=> (x + 1)/(y + 1) = 4/5
=> 5(x + 1) = 4(y + 1)
=> 5x + 5 = 4y + 4
=> 5x - 4y = - 1 ______(i)
Case II : 5 is subtracted from both numerator and denominator fractions becomes 1/2.
=> (x - 5)/(y - 5) = 1/2
=> 2(x - 5) = y - 5
=> 2x - 10 = y - 5
=> y = 2x - 5 _____(ii)
Substituting the value of y in equation (i) we get,
=> 5x - 4(2x - 5) = - 1
=> 5x - 8x + 20 = - 1
=> 3x = 21
=> x = 21/3 = 7
Now, In equation (ii),
y = 2 × 7 - 5 = 14 - 5 = 9
Hence,
Fraction = 7/9

Let the two digit no. be 10x + y
and the no. when reversed be 10y + x
according to the question :
10x + y + 10y + x = 132
11x + 11y = 132
taking 11 common
11(x + y ) = 132
x + y = 12 ----------- 1)
lets do the second part
Now,
10x + y + 12 = 5(x + y)
10x + y + 12 = 5x + 5y
5x + 12 = 4y
4y - 5x = 12 ------ 2)
substituting y = 12 - x in equation 2)
4( 12 - x ) - 5x = 12
48 - 4x - 5x = 12
48 - 12 = 9x
36 = 9x
x = 4
x + y = 12
4 + y = 12
y = 8
so the no. is 48
