The act of hiding people at the risk of your own life and giving of your food, living space, and friendship to spare the lives of people around you.
Its is the feeling of being lonely and misunderstood that provides the force for her diary writing that she full determination and colors many of the experiences she recounts. That is the basic theme of the story. Even in her early diary entries, in which she writes about her many friends and her lively social life, Anne expresses gratitude that the diary can act as a confidant with whom she can share her innermost thoughts.

Anne Frank is the main character of 'From the Diary of Young Girl' . Her diary entries give an insight about her character and personality. Anne find a good and confident friend in the form of her diary which which she could share all her feelings. She share everything with her diary. She does not think she is pretty, but she is confident that her personality and other good traits make up for it.
Anne is a playful and comical but with the serious side. She is content and optimistic despite the threats and danger that her family faces. She is remarkably forthright and perceptive at the beginning of the diary but as she leaves her normal childhood behind and enters the dire and unusual circumstances of the holocaust, she becomes more introspective and thoughtful. Anne feels extremely lonely and in need of kindness and affection.

Mr Keesing,Anne's old math teacher was infuriated with Anne because she was very talkative. Hence,when repeated warnings failed to quiet her,he assigned her extra homework,an essay on the subject 'A Chatterbox'. The task at hand was to come up with convincing arguments to prove the necessity of talking and after devoting much thought to the subject,Anne had an idea and she filled up three pages.

The young seagull was afraid to fly as he thought that his wings would not support him. His two brothers and his sister had already flown away the day before and so, he was left alone and hungry on the ledge. His father and mother threatened to starve him on the ledge and cajoled him to fly because learning the art of flight was very necessary for a bird. But the young seagull was too timid to fly.

The classmates of Anne Frank were shaking with fear and nervousness because the teachers were in the process of deciding about the fate of the students. The teachers were deciding as to which students would be promoted to the next class which would stay back in the same class. Anne was very confident about herself and her friends that they would be promoted to the next class.

In this lesson, Anne talks about being lonely and having no one to talk to despite being surrounded by family and around 30 people whom she called her “friends”. Thus, she takes the decision of writing her feelings in a diary. It is unusual for her to write in a diary but she is really in need of a true friend. Thus, she decides to name her diary “kitty” and unlike other people, she is not going to mention just facts in it. She starts with writing her background, to make it easier to understand for anyone who reads it later. She describes her family and early childhood when they all migrated, her early schooling. After giving a brief account of her background, she comes to the present day where she tells us about the result day. Everyone in the class is nervous about their result and boys are even making bets. Anne was quite sure about herself and her friends. She had a good equation with all the teachers except her maths’ professor, who was constantly annoyed at her for her talking habits. Thus, he started giving her punishments in the form of essays on weird topics such as “Chatterbox” to which she replied with full wit. She wrote essays that were funny and explained that this was a trait that she inherited from her mother and not much could be done about it. He kept on giving her essays until she wrote a satire. After that third and last assignment, Mr Keesing never pointed her out for talking.

A Letter to God Summary
Lencho’s house and crop
Lencho had his lonely house in the valley. It was situated on the top of a low hill. From there one could see the river and the fields. Lencho had a good crop. But it needed rains badly.
It starts raining
Lencho saw the sky in the north. It had rain clouds. His wife was preparing the dinner. He told her that God willing it would rain. Soon big drops of rain began to fall. Lencho went out to feel the rain on his body. He was very glad. He said that the drops of rain were new coins.
Hailstorm and loss therefrom
But soon the hail rained on everywhere. The fields became white as if covered with salt. The crop was totally destroyed. Lencho became sad. He felt that they would go hungry that year. Also they would have no seeds for the next crop.
Lencho writes to God
But Lencho had a single hope : help from God. He was sure that no one dies of hunger. He had a great belief in God. The following Sunday he went to the post office. He wrote a letter to God to send him one hundred pesos. He wrote ‘God’ as the address.
Postmaster collects money for Lencho
An employee of the post office showed this letter to the postmaster. The postmaster laughed seeing the address. He wished to have such a faith in God. He had had an idea answer the letter. But reading it he found that the writer needed money. It was to keep the faith of the writer. So he asked all his friends and employees to give some money.
Money sent to Lencho
The postmaster could collect only seventy pesos this way put the money in an envelope and addressed it to Lencho. He wrote a single word on it ‘God’ as a signature.
Lencho receives the money
The following Sunday Lencho came to the post office. He asked if there was any letter for him. He was given that letter. Lencho did not show any surprise on seeing the money. He got angry when he counted the money. He felt that God could’not have made a mistake.
Lencho’s letter to God, calls post office employees crooks
Immediately Lencho wrote another letter to God. He put it into the mailbox. The postmaster opened it. Lencho had written in that letter that he had received only seventy pesos. But he had asked for one hundred pesos. He asked God to send him the rest. But God should not send it through the mail. It was because the post office employees were crooks.

This is taken from ‘The ball Poem’ written by John Berryman. The poet saw a boy who lost his ball into the nearby water body while playing. The boy looked sad and depressed.
He waited for a long time for the ball to return. But the ball did not return. The author felt very sad and wanted to help the boy, console him and wanted to give him money to get a new ball. But then the author realized that this was the time the boy could understand the realities of life.
Many things come and go in life. Nothing is permanent. We may lose our lovable things and lovable persons in life. Sometimes memories bring us happiness. The author wanted the boy to learn the toughest lesson of life.

Mr Keesing was an old maths teacher at Anne’s school.He was very strict by Nature. He would not tolerate anyone talking in his class. Naturally, he remained quiet annoyed with Anne who was no doubt the Chatterbox.He would punish her by giving her extra homework. Anne would stuff her assigned homework with such funny contents that not only the class but even Mr Keesing felt greatly delighted. But Mr Keesing still failed to stop Anne's habit of chattering in the class. With the intention of making a mockery of Anne he gave her an essay to write on the topic: ‘Quack, Quack, Quack,’ Mrs Chatterbox. Anne wrote her essay in the form of a story in verse. It told the story of a mother duck and a father swan. The father bites his three ducklings to death because they quacked too much. The father in the poem is clearly Mr Keesing and the ducklings are the children of his class. Luckily Mr Keesing took the joke the right way. He enjoyed this poem and read it to several classes. He stopped giving Anne any extra homework. He allowed her to talk in the class. He even started making jokes with the children. Thus we see how even Mr Keesing got infected by Anne's sense of humour.

1) S1: = 1 + 3 + 5 + 7 + ---- + (2n-1) [nth term; a + (n-1)d;
==> nth term = 1 + (n-1)2 = (2n-1)]
2) Sum to n terms of an AP: (n/2){1st term + Last term};
==> S1 = (n/2)*(1 + 2n -1) = (n^2)
3) S2 = 1 + 5 + 9 + 13 + ---- + (2n-3)
[Here a = 1; d = 4; no. of terms = n/2, assuming in S1, number of terms are even]
==> S2 = {(n/2)/2}*(1 + 2n -3) = (n/4)*(2n-2) = (n)(n-1)/2
So, S1/S2 = (n^2)/{(n)(n-1)/2} = 2n/(n-1)
Now let us consider, the number of terms in S1 are odd;
Then number of terms in S2 would be = (n+1)/2
==> Last term here = 1 + {(n+1)/2 - 1}4 = 1 + 2n + 2 - 4 = 2n - 1
==> S2 = {(n+1)/2)/2}*(1 + 2n -1) = (n)*(n+1)/2
So, in this case the ratio S1/S2 = 2n/(n+1)
