Racial discrimination

Yogita Ingle 5 years, 2 months ago

Apartheid- It was the policy of social discrimination followed in South Africa. This policy divided the people and labelled them on the basis of their skin colour. Under this system, blacks were forbidden from living in white areas. Trains, buses, hotels, hospitals, schools and colleges, libraries, cinema halls, public toilets, etc. were all separate for white and blacks. In South Africa, white did not give equal rights to the native Africans.

India had raised this issue first time in United Nations General Assembly in 1946.

It was due to the constant moral support of India and the continuous struggle of Dr. Nelson Mandela, the policy of apartheid has been abolished in South Africa in 1990.

Bholi suffered an attack of smallpox when she was just two years old. She damaged a part of her brain when she fell off from the cot. Education transformed ‘a dumb cow’ into a fearless and courageous girl. First, she agreed to many an unequal match, Bishamber, just to maintain the honour of the family. Her father, Ramlal, put even his turban at the feet of the greedy bridegroom. He accepted to many a girl with pock-marks only after getting 5000 rupees as dowry. Bholi showed the courage of throwing away the ceremonial garland into the fire. She refused to have a mean, greedy and contemptible coward like Bishamber Nath as her husband.

The story” A Letter to God: written by GL Fuentes enforces our faith in humanity. After reading the story, we know that there are still people who help others without any self-interest. Here the post master and other employees lay an example of humanity and kindness for others . First they all laughed at Lencho’s letter to God because they knew that there Was no such person but they were really moved by Lencho’s faith in God . They decided to help him to keep his faith alive and firm.Even though it was not possible for them to collect hundred pesos and kept them in an envelope for Lencho. They signed on it ‘God’ except there own name .This act shows us the true picture of humanity and motivates us to be a noble and kind person.

LOGINJOIN NOW English > Essays > Safety of Women in India for Students and Children Essays Safety of Women in India for Students and Children 500 Words Essay on Safety of Women in India Safety of Women in India has become a major issue in India now. The crime rates against women in the country have only risen to a great extent. Women think twice before stepping out of their homes, especially at the night. This is, unfortunately, the sad reality of our country that lives in constant fear. Women in India have been given equal rights as men; however, people do not follow this rule. They contribute to the growth and development of our country; still, they are living in fear. Women are now on respected positions in the country, but if we take a look behind the curtains, we see even then they are being exploited. Each day we read about horrific crimes being committed against women in our country like it’s a norm. Crimes against Women in India Not a day goes by where you don’t hear of the news of a crime against women in India. In fact, there are at least five news articles that tell us about the horrific details of the various crimes. It is extremely painful to watch the status of women’s safety in India, especially in a country where women are given the stature of goddesses. The list of crimes against women is quite long, to say the least. Acid attack is becoming very normal is various parts of the country. The criminal throws acid on the face of the victim to destroy their lives completely. Nonetheless, India has a lot of strong acid attack survivors who are battling for their lives and trying to lead their lives independently. Furthermore, domestic violence and honor killings are very common. The wife stays in an abusive relationship because of the fear of society. The family kills their daughters in the name of honor to keep up with the reputation of their family. Similarly, female foeticide is yet another common crime. Due to the regressive thinking, people kill daughters before they are born. The list continues as crimes against women are on the rise. Other crimes also include child marriages, child abuse, rape, dowry deaths, trafficking and many more.

Ambition is a great incentive to work. A life without ambition is like an arrow without a target. Seneca rightly said, "If one does not know which part one is sailing, no wind is favourable". An ambition is a dream with a deadline. All successful people have an ambition. No one can get anywhere unless he knows where he wants to go and what he wants to be or do. Precisely, ambition is the path to success. My ambition in life is to become a teacher. It is the best way to cater to the needs of coming generations.
I know, the task of an excellent teacher is to stimulate apparently ordinary people to unusual effort. The challenge lies in not identifying winners, it is in making winners out of ordinary. I shall strive my best to guide my students not only to acquire knowledge but also prepare for the life in future. Every child is like a flower. I would make them enjoy their stay in the school. If that is achieved, I am sure the children would learn whatever is being taught. I would mould my students to become both intelligent and knowledgeable. In short, all my students would grow up into ideal citizens and great human beings who have love for all living beings.
"A teacher affects eternity; he can never tell where his influence stops" said Henry Adams. Remembering this I would be an ideal teacher. "The mediocre teacher tells. The good teacher explains. The superior teacher demonstrates. The great teacher inspires. So, I would become a great teacher. And I would work hard to accomplish my ambition.

Dear Sir,

Subject: Replacement of a faulty television

Last month I bought a Samsung TV from your shop. It had warranty of two years and I made a full payment at the time of purchase. But now I find that some of the features are not working properly. There are colourful shadows on the sides of the screen and they are not being adjusted. Also, there are some buttons on the remote that are not working.
I request you to kindly arrange for the replacement of the TV at the earliest as it is causing a lot of inconvenience. Thanking you in anticipation.

Yours sincerely,
Amrita
