since independence India is aiming at self-sufficiency in food grains.Indian policy makers had adopted new measures to increase self-sufficiency in food grains.A new programme in agriculture known as the "Green Revolution" has been adopted by India especially in the production of wheat and rice.
The main idea behind this programme was to increase production by using modern methods of agriculture, HYV seeds chemical fertilisers etc.
The highest production was achieved in Punjab and Haryana. The production of foodgrain increased from 7.23 million tonnes in 1964–65 to 218 million tonnes in 2009–10.

* ‘Nazi’ ideology was synonymous with Hitler’s world view. It said and meant that there was no equality between people but only a racial hierarchy.
* According to it, blond, blue-eyed Nordic German Aryans were at the top, while Jews were located at the lowest rung of the ladder.
* Darwin was a natural scientist, who tried to explain the creation of plants and animals through the concept of evolution and natural selection.
* Herbert Spencer later added the idea of the ‘survival of the fittest.’
* Their ideas were borrowed by the Nazis – whose argument was, the “strongest race would survive and the weak ones would perish.
* The Aryan race was the finest. It had to retain its purity, became stronger and dominate the world.”
* other aspect of Hitler’s ideology was the concept of ‘lebensraum’ or living space meaning new territories should be acquired, as it would enhance the area of the mother country.

The growth of vegetation depends upon the amount sunlight and rainfall received. The southern slopes of the Himalaya receive more rain due to the south west monsoon winds which travel west along the southern slops. The northern slopes do not receive any such rainfall. So the southern slopes are covered with thick vegetation as compared to the northern slopes.

The FAMINE OF BENGAL in 1943 was the most devastating famine which occurred in recorded history. The Bengal famine killed about 30 lakh people in Bengal.
Historical data suggest that the Bengal famine was not caused due to lack of availability of food but due to lack of access to food. The amount of rice produced was more or less similar from 1938 to 1945.
