(a+b)2

= (a+b) (a+b)

=a(a+b) + b(a+b)

=a2 +ab +ab +b2

= a2 + 2ab +b = a2 +b2 + 2ab

Therefore,(a+b)= a2 +b2 + 2ab

 In a triangle ABC ,X and Y are the points on AB and BC respectively  such that AB =BC, if BX =½ ABand BY=½BC, show that BX =BY

In the triangle ABC,

BX = 1/2 AB ___________________[1]
BY = 1/2 BC ___________________[2]
Since AB = BC
[2] can be written as BY = 1/2 AB
So BY = 1/2 AB = BX
thus BY = BX

According to ASA congruence rule when two angles and included side of one triangle is equal to two angles and included side of another side they the two triangles are congruent.
But according to AAS, two angles and one side of a triangle are equal to two angles and one side of another triangle then they are congruent.
Both ASA and AAS are same as if two angles of one triangle are equal to two angles of another triangle then obviously the third angles will also be same.

In simple words :: Length is the measurement of distance

Sahdev Sharma 8 years, 4 months ago

  • Distance is a numerical description of how far apart objects are. In physics, distance may refer to a physical length or estimation based on other criteria. In mathematics, a distance function or metric is a generalization of the concept of physical distance.
  • Length most commonly refers to the longest dimension of an object. Length may be distinguished from height, which is vertical extent, and width or breath, which is the distance from side to side, measuring across the object at the right angles to the length.
