Given -: 1. ABCD is a parallelogram 2. EFCD is a rectangle 3.AL perpendicular DC PROVE -: 1. ar(ABCD) = ar(EFCD) 2. ar(ABCD) = DC × AL PROOF-: 1. EFCD is a rectangle and rectangle is also a parallelogram. So , both parallelograms are on the same base and between the same parallels so they are equal in area. Same base - CD Same parallels - CD ll EB So, ar(ABCD) = ar(EFCD) 2. It is given that AL perpendicular DC and, the area of parallelogram is = b×h So, ar(ABCD) = b×h ar(ABCD) = DC × AL
