AOB is a straight line
$\therefore$ $\angle$ AOC + $\angle$ COD + $\angle$ DOB = 180°
$\Rightarrow$ (3x – 5)° + 55° + (x + 20)° = 180°
$\Rightarrow$ 3x – 5° + 55° + x + 20° = 180°
$\Rightarrow$ 4x + 70° = 180°
$\Rightarrow$ 4x = 180° – 70°
$\Rightarrow$ 4x = 110°
$\Rightarrow$ x =110/4 = 27 ½°
Therefore, $\angle$ AOC = 3x – 5° = 3 $\times$ 27½° – 5 = 77½°
and $\angle$ BOD = x + 20 = 27 ½ + 20 = 47 ½^o
