Mean of 5 numbers? is 30. So sum of the numbers will be 5*30=150. If one number is excluded, Mean of 4 numbers was 28. So sum will be 4*28=112. Excluded number?=150-112=38.

SHORT FORMULA
NEW MEAN =MEAN - THE COMMON NUMBER DECREASED
=40-12
=30

Detailed solution :

Mean=sum of total observation /total number of observation
42=sum of total observation /10
420=sum of total observation
Now each member of the observation is decreased 12
=12*10=120
New sum of total observation =420-120
=300
New mean =300/10
=30

Let us write multiples of 4 and 6 first,

4 : 4,8,12,16,20,24,28,…..

6: 6,12,18,24,30,36,42…..

From the above two expressions you can see, 4 and 6 have common multiples as 12 and 24. They may have more common multiple if we go beyond. Now, the smallest or least common multiple for 4 and 6 you can see here is 12. Therefore, 12 is the L.C.M of 4 and 6. Also, find to learn LCM of two numbers here.

Before discussing Euclid’s Postulates let us discuss a few terms as listed by Euclid in his book 1 of the ‘Elements’. The postulated statements of these are:

  • Assume the three steps from solids to points as solids-surface-lines-points. In each step, one dimension is lost.
  • A solid has 3 dimensions, the surface has 2, the line has 1 and point is dimensionless.
  • A point is anything that has no part, a breadthless length is a line and the ends of a line point.
  • A surface is something which has length and breadth only.

It can be seen that the definition of a few terms needs extra specification. Now let us discuss these Postulates in detail.

CSA of cone =πrl Given: area=88cm sq. Height= 14cm To find: diameter Solution: here height is slant height which means lenght =height So, CSA of cone =22/7*r*14 88=22/7*r*14 88=308/7*r 88*7/308=r 2cm= r So diameter is 4cm.
