Given : x = 7 + 4√3 To find : √x + 1 / √x. Solution :  x = 7 + 4√3. ⇒ x = 4 + 3 + 4√3. ⇒ x = 2² + √3² + 2 × 2 × √3. ⇒ x = ( 2 + √3)² ⇒ √x = 2 + √3. Now, 1 /√x = 1 / 2 + √3 × 2 - √3 / 2 - √3. ⇒ 1 / √x = 2 - √3 / 2² - √3² ⇒ 1 / √x = 2 - √3 / 4 - 3. ⇒ 1 / √x = 2 - √3. Again, √x +1 / √x = 2 + √3 + 2 - √3. ⇒ √x + 1 / √x = 2 + 2.

Indrani Sahu 4 years, 3 months ago

By splitting middle term a²+14a+48 =a²+(6+8)a+48 =a²+6a+8a+48 =a(a+6)+8(a+6) =(a+6)(a+8)

a²+(8+6)a+48 a²+8a+6a+48 a(a+8)+6(a+8) (a+8)(a+6)

Anushka Agarwal 4 years, 3 months ago

a² + 14a + 48 = a² + (8+6)a + 48 = a² + 8a + 6a + 48 = a(a+8) + 6(a+8) = (a+8)(a+6) Answer : (a+8)(a+6)

Give the geometric representations of 2x + 9 = 0 as an equation

(1) in one variable

(2) in two variables

answer :

(1) In one variable, 2x + 9 = 0 represents a point x = -9/2 = -4.5

(2) In two variables, 2x + 9 = 0 represents a straight line passing through point (−4.5, 0) and parallel to y-axis. It is a collection of all points of the plane, having their x-coordinate as 4.5.

Zero Polynomial. The constant polynomial. whose coefficients are all equal to 0. The corresponding polynomial function is the constant function with value 0, also called the zero map. The zero polynomial is the additive identity of the additive group of polynomials.

Examples: xyz + x + y + z is a polynomial of degree three; 2x + y − z + 1 is a polynomial of degree one (a linear polynomial); and 5x2 − 2x2 − 3x2 has no degree since it is a zero polynomial. A polynomial all of whose terms have the same exponent is said to be a homogeneous polynomial, or a form. Forms of the first, second, and third degrees are said to be linear, quadratic, and cubic. Forms in two or three variables are called binary or ternary, for example, x2 + y2 + z2 − xy − yz − xz is a ternary quadratic form.

If n is not a perfect square then  is irrational
Let on the contrary say it is rational .

Then

where p and q are coprime integers.
so n =p2/q2

p2 =nq2

This shows p divides q

which is a contradiction.

Hence  is irrational if n is not a perfect square.

Malhar Mv 4 years, 3 months ago

We have to prove that √n is not a rational number, if n is not a perfect square. Ex: Let we take the number is √5 Here 5 is not a perfect square. Proof: ... Thus p and q has a common factor 5.

Thus, every irrational number is a real number. Reason: A number line may have negative or positive number. Since, no negative can be the square root of a natural number, thus every point on the number line cannot be in the form of √m, where m is a natural number.
